Telecom NZ Users with Flashed Titans - Your thoughts - Loss Of EvDo

Posted this on xda but id say most people come here

Hi Folks,

Thought i would start this thread to centralise feedback/experiences from Titan users on the Telecom NZ network. As we're a minority network in the rom flashing community, trying to sift through all the posts/threads to check other experiences is time consuming.

DCD, be great if you could share a thought or two. I know your time is valuable also.

I have unlocked my titan with olipro 2.4 unlocker and installed the 3.35.04 radio rom and dcd's 3.2.5 stock rom.

Firstly, thanks to DCD for a really good stable wm6.1 rom. Prefer it over no2chem's 5067 build which wasn't too bad either.

The only thing that doesn't work unfortunately is the Rev 0/A connection. It means i have to set to force 1X speed when i need to connect to the net.

I've spent hours reading posts everywhere re why this happens as it seems to be a common after a rom flash.

Many posts says that you needed to record your HDR username and password from the security settings. Using your MSL code to enter the epst. Then re-entering them after the flasg.

Other posts say it's to do with the PRL/PRI setting.

Some have taken their phone to a retailer like Leading Edge who charge $55 for a reflash or a re provision?

Today on my lunch break i wandered into a Telecom Store and said to the rep that my Ev Do connection wasnt working. He took one look and said, oh youre running flashed firmware.. and i said how did you know.. and guess what.. he shows me his titan.. and it's on wm6.1! Quite funny.. now this is his take on the Ev Do no connect..

He said the hdr username and password have nothing to do with the ev do connectivity. He said as long as we had the #777 number, username = mobile@jamamobile, password = telecom, then we should get Ev Do no problem.

He said it's the rom's software that prevents the Ev Do from connecting and that there are specific roms with rev a enabled that will work on the telecom network.. he didnt have time to elaborate which roms or where to get them.

This goes against everything ive read so far in all sorts of forums!

all of the new custom roms now are gps enabled and rev a enabled which is what i cant understand.

Trying to get some detailed info in a quick lunch break with other interested telecom employees trying to listen in was a bit difficult and you could imagine. He didn't want to be seen endorsing the breaking of warranties, so i let him be.

Would really appreciate other Telecom NZ Titan users commenting on what solutions they have used to successfully regain EvDo

Cheers!
