[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\D3DM\Drivers]

meaning I had added the diamond d3dm drivers there are no differences in my performance from the htc_d3dm.dll ......

like I said I could be wrong but I may have even read some where that this local hook driver have something to do with the camera and that is about it
Run the tests and see for yourself. Night and day difference in D3D performance.

Well, you are DEFINITELY wrong if you are speaking of 3D FPS. Run the benchmark program in the first post WITHOUT having the drives. I got 3.5FPS at first. After the install [and without a reset] I was getting 90 FPS. Plus the animation ran SIGNIFICANTLY smoother.

Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers

if is a software not hard ware it does what it should uses the our xscale better then the stock windows driver. this is better then nothing it makes 3D faster not by the GPU but it is a better way to keep the software driver.

Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers

Maybe the kush is getting to me, but I don't see any difference. Where would I notice the difference? After I installed the .cab, the test didn't display ANY FPS nor did it move. When I would click the icon of another open program, it will move smoothly then the other program will come on the screen.

If you open up the cab you'll notice that it also updates the registry with the name of the new driver. Its effect on apps that call D3D, which is mostly just the test apps and a few games, is definetly not placebo: 3fps vs 90fps. Its effect on the vast majority of other programs which make no use of D3D is, of course, entirely placebo.

Interesting bit about the camera. I wouldn't think the camera app would use D3D, but if it does we could expect slightly smoother operation. I doubt there would be any difference in output quality, as that is mostly determined by the poor optics, but the program itself may run smoother.

Sorry for any mistakes, posted from phone.
