In FireFox right click and 'save link as'

I have seen this error but do not remember what it is from. Try posting this in the kitchen thread and see if you get an answer.

hey folks,

i've been given a titan with a stock non gps radio and os rom but damaged usb port and wm5. telecom new zealand and they dont have an updated gps rom update.

based on this it appears i cannot unlock this phone to upgrade the radio and os roms even via sd card method.

since olipro 2.4 needs usb and nuespl 2.47 only unlocks stock gps enabled roms.

anything at all that i can do??

the only non-gps titan unlocker is olipro 1.20 (which requires working usb)
if you cannot unlock then all hope is lost, and your stuck on stock :-(

so definitely no sd card method for unlocking non gps stock rom?

can olipro's 2.4 unlocker be adapted to the sd card?

if you could adapt the unlocker to flash via sd card, then you could upgrade the bootloader to 2.40 Olipro, then flash 3.X radio via sd card, and then flash 3.X Rom via sd card, and voila working GPS and custom ROM !!! is that what your thinking? cuz thats what i was thinking, but alas... how to unlock non-GPS without using USB...

Damager 11-01-2008 07:32 PM

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!

that's exactly what i was thinking :-)

i already have a titan upgraded to a 3.3x.xx radio and 3.x rom and managed to get this broken titan so thought ill use the broken one as my test phone for flashing and testing software etc.

looking at the usb port, i think one of the pins has become misaligned.. one of the guys in telecom (the new zealand carrier) said the whole pcb has to be replaced..

i was like wtf? surely the pin can be just re aligned? he seemed to think not.. but then again his knowledge of a titan is probably the same as the shop brochure..

the whole pcb replacement thing to me sounds stupid.. seeing as the usb part is right at the end of board.. the rest of the phone works perfectly.

ive emailed olipro via xda so hoping he can offer a suggestion to unlock via sd card

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!

Alright, I read through the entire thread, and did not see my question answered. Maybe someone can help. The write up, and guide are awesome. Before this I was using one of DCD's ROMs, but there had always been a couple of things that I wanted to be a little different, so I wanted to give this a try.

I had no problems building my ROM, and getting it put on my phone. A number of programs will not launch. When I attempt to launch the programs on my phone, I get an error that says, "The file 'FILE NAME HERE' can not be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its componenets cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file." I ge the error on some programs that were part of my ROM install, and on some that were not. On some programs (S2U2 Settings, for example), it will give me the error the first time I try to run it, but not after. On some programs (HTC Home Customizer, for example), I have never been able to get them to run.

I have rebuilt the same ROM over and over, I have changed selections in the ROM, but nothing seems work to resolve the issue. All of them have been built using No2Chem 5067. Maybe I'll try selecting a different BASE to see if I still have the same problem. Does anyone else have any other suggestions?

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!

Stayed up last night messing around with it, and built ROM based on 20755. I still had the same problem, but with significantly fewer applications. SO, it's not fixed, it's just a little better. Can anyone suggest anything, or have any ideas?

Just another example of the symptoms: Skype, I can launch from the today plugin. But when I attempt to launch either from Programs, or shortcts I have in Ultimate Launch, I get the error.

Just did this the other night, one thing that got me stuck on the step by step was that if i got stuck in bootloader mode at anytime, do this thread...

Didn't realize that it was just there as addtional info. I was trying to get out of bootloader mode for an hr.

Then posted and someone said just cook away!

Thanks man!

This unlocks the phone so that you can put a different Radio (GPS enabled) and a different ROM on it. You can use Olipro 2.40 or nuespl 2.47 to unlock your Titan device.
..............

Edit : This information was sent to me by another user, so I am adding it to the Tutorial.
When you unRAR nueSPL, you don't actually rename it and place it in the root. You run the exe from within the device and it automatically checks to make sure all the other requirements are in place, then creates the TITAIMG.nbh file for you in the right location and walks you through putting the phone into the bootloader.

Could you plz tell me whether I have to unlock the phone before I update the low version to a higher one? As mine is a Spanish language phone with the RADIO version 1.67, I really wanna update it. But last time when I did that, the HTC6800 turned to be a brick. This time I dare not update the SPL again when I start the BOOTLOADER......

well that's kinda tricky. depending on your carrier if you can flash a stock GPS ROM (look here for stock ROMs) with a full ship exe ROM upgrade (certain carriers only) you can upgrade the radio/bootloader/OS (excluding bootloader if you've unlocked as it has overwrite protection) without unlocking - now with a dump however, you may need to unlock first. Of course there's another method, would be to unlock using Olipro 2.40 (as NueSPL requires GPS 3.X ROM) and then flash GPS radio followed by flashing GPS OS Rom. The easiest method being to flash via SD Card (excluding Olipro 2.40 which must be done via usb cable/RUU)

Well, I can say that I am brand-spankin' new to this, found this thread in the first few minutes on this site, followed your guide, and had a successful hack on my first night. Literally just an hour or two after i delved into this scene. Fan-f***ing-tastic guide dude. Already on my third ROM revision now. Now I just need to get GPS working and I am golden. I am just worried about calling Verizon for a new Akey... I already had my phone legitimately drop off the network once requiring that call. Not sure if they will go for this again just a month later...

you need to remove the battery for 1 minute, if that doesn't work then you need to use this utility ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Titan/Users/Im...tan_exitbl.rar its called exit titan bootloader that should get you out of the bootloader and back to your phone. hook your phone up to the usb and run the utility on your computer.

what does the bootloader "rainbow screen" say?
depending on what it says you phone could just be waiting for the new ROM to be flashed, if so I would STRONGLY suggest using the SD method to flash and make sure the SD card is in the phone before you launch the bootloader screen

digitalr0gue 11-14-2008 03:46 PM

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!

You can also flash the original OEM ROM to get it back to original state if you are not getting results. you'll KNOW if the phone is bricked as you won't get it to do anything at all, even get into a bootloader (I believe.) It will just be... dead...

Agreed. Personally, I had the best luck using the SD method as well, for both bootloader and radio ROM (plus already I had an assortment of Micro SD cards on hand to do it.) If you don't have one, you can buy a 1gb card for like 5 bucks now.

After that, I just let the kitchen upload the final software ROM itself as I never seem to have problems with it -- it's painlessly easy. :headbang:

Respect to all the devs and hackers in this scene for their hard work in making this such an easy process for the curious n00bs. =D>

Either way flash any rom and you will be ok.....you can use SDcard method or RUU....I primarily flash via RUU...it is all personal choice.....just flash it and you will be up and running.....any rom you like...

if you flash your radio via the storage card you don't have to call for an a-key.

Quick question, If I sell my phone can the new owner have his number put into the phone with the upgrades or do i have to re-install the stock rom. i tried installing the stock bell rom but it would not let me. it would get to 1% then say the rom is not compatible.
