You need 2.0SP1 or later. 2.0 will not work. (Not to mention the CF versions are for PPCs, not PCs)

I suspect your install is screwed up. Reinstall. It's possible updater caused your failure to run, so verify it works before you run updater, then run updater to get any updates.

thx man..i wasnt sure about whether it was for PC or PPc use...as u can c, im still a lil new to this world..but im learning, im learning...thx for the clarification

You may have to download them manually. I don't know if there is a problem with the updater. You can check the ppckitchen chat and see if anyone has reported an issue.

HELP!!!!! Ok, new xv6800 for Christmas, upgraded from Apache. I unlocked it per GaMedics instructions, seemed to work fine, however, when it would turn off, it would not power back up until I hit soft reset. Then, I decided to go ahead and upgrade the Radio per instructions (used the SD method with both). Seemed to work great, said it completed, did a reset, now it won't come out of the splash screen. It shows that it's upgraded to the 3.42.40 with the Verizon screen and then the red letters disappear and it just stays there. Please, any advice. I've flashed my ROMS many times on the apache and never encountered this issue.

Now you need to load a GPS compatable ROM. I have one in the link in my signature.

i agree with that.

and i have a question ga... what would cause a rom to boot fine but nothing would run, eg i couldnt open the programs list, the phone. only thing that would open was the start menu and the settings. and it wouldnt connect to active sync

I had this happen, and I think I uninstalled, deleted any leftover files, then reinstalled the latest version of kitchen again and it worked.

I just got ANOTHER refurbished 6800 and it has MR1 installed. i Aded agps fix. It works great. BUT. . . i want to cook my own ROM. do i need a different radio? everywhere i read it says i need "3.xx" or higher. MR1 has radio 3.37.75. do i just need to upgrade to OPILIO 2.4 or SPL 2.47 and start cooking from there?
