Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!

[quote=deegge;673196]I wanted to let everyone know that I fixed my phone by flashing a new Radio (DCD 3.42.40) and then a new ROM (NueROM3 6152-3pre3). Everything works without having to reactivate or do anything with Verizon.

It took me a couple attempts to load the Radio and ROM correctly. I did not have to contact Verizon for an A-key either... That's great you were able to activate your GPS without a data plan.

=D>Thank you to GAMEDIC, MROBVIOUS and the rest for allowing us to get more out of our phones.

I read the first post and I've searches seem to point to this thread. My question is, if I have a qwest mogul and do what post #1 says to do, can I turn it into a sprint mogul for use on sprint?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!

Ok, I followed all of the directions and upgraded the bootloader, radio and then ROM on the phone. Here is the problem I am running into... I bought a Verizon phone and have Alltel service. After unlocking the phone and cooking an Alltel ROM and upgrading the phone, when I dial *228 it still dials Verizon instead of Alltel. Dialing #777 dials Alltel, however. I had selected Alltel as my carrier when creating the ROM, so how do I get it to look at Alltel's network for the phone and not just the internet?

On my old phone, when Slide 2 Unlock is displayed it shows Alltel as the name next to my signal strength but on the new phone it doesn't show any carrier name. I'm not sure if that is helpful info or not. I can also tell it is using Verizon towers because there is a significant signal strength difference in my area.

Until I can get it to dial Alltel when dialing *228 I cannot complete the activation. Alltel themselves were more than happy to activate the phone based on ESN number alone. Thanks in advance for your help...

Try using the Alltel carrier cab and see if it makes a difference. Just download it and install it then restet the device. I dn't know that it will work but worth a shot.

Did you install carrier cab? Or cook the correct one into the kitchen.

Try to install your carrier's carrier cab from dcd. If that doesn't then I don't know.
