phone goes from 2bar evdo-1 bar 1x with sharing

so i normaly have no problem with internet sharing, im using a kitchen rom nicely build to run smooth, and can connect with no problems except error 67 sometimes. today i cant keep my phone in evdo range, i had a similar problem about 2 months ago and i called sprint and they got it to work quite a bit better in just 10 mins, is there a way i can fix this?

i think sprint had me do something one of the # codes but they also did something on there end of the line, and i know i will never get a knowledgeable kind person on the line ever again.

Just a little reminder, instead of posting another thread, please just edit your post if you have something extra to say

They probably had you update your PRL.

If you type *228 into your dialer and press send, you'll get some options.

If you press 2 it should "update your roaming" which is the PRL or the towers you connect to.

Sprint doesn't do OTA PRL updates.

You can force EVDO-only on most kitchen builds... it depends on which one though and I can't quite remember the setting right now.

Its under Start/Phone/Menu/Options then the Services tab. Look through the different options... one of them has an option to force EVDO... but be aware that if you force EVDO, you can not make or receive calls or text message... so its internet only.

The Mogul actually gets locked in 1X mode a LOT if you are downloading something and receive a text message... I used this feature frequently before I got my air card.

sorry about the double post, it was due to 1x internet connection and didnt realize it went thru,

i couldnt find the force evdo option if someone could direct me to the exact directory and option that would be great, or maybe i need to cook another rom

I think Sprint does do OTA PRL. It isn't using the *228 option though. I am almost positive you can call in and have your phone flagged for PRL, I used to do this with my Treo 650 and I got a couple 6700s replaced because they wouldn't PRL update and everytime I called I had to sit through the call and wait on it to try.

Okay they do OTA PRL updates but good luck finding someone who will flag your account for one...

I just grab them from Corolada and flash them myself...

The best way to get rid of 1x, remove your battery for a few minutes and put it back and turn the phone back on, then do IOTA (setting/personal/phone/service/internet/start)

Yeah, that is how I do all of mine now. I didn't realize they wouldn't all flag your account though, goes to show how long it has been since I've done it that way.
