OK to flash back to SPRINTS previous ROM?
I hear many programs do not work with WM 6.1. If this is the case, I do not see benefit to 'upgrade' to the new official rom. Also HTC states you should not downgrade to an older rom. Is it really not a safe process? Or possible at all?

Bump! Anybody??? I don't think it's a good idea since it just might brick your Mogul, but I may be totally wrong.

A lot of people have upgraded and reverted to a previous version for one reason or another and not had problems. Shouldn't be a problem for you. And for the record, a lot of common programs have simple workarounds to get them to work with 6.1 if needed. I personally have not had a problem with anything running on my Mogul.

downgrading to a 3.xx rom is fine, just don't downgrade to a 2.xx rom. wm 6.1 is not the issue fyi it is something specific with the new htc roms for the titan (wm 6.1 works fine when placed on top of older roms). don't worry about downgrading to any 3.xx series rom though, but like I said do not attempt to downgrade to a 2.xx series rom from a 3.xx series rom.
