internet sharing, post 6.1 official upgrade

i've already been aware changes needed to be made to get internet sharing working right on sprint moguls. i made those changes and was able to connect on my laptop...but now when im on the internet sharing screen on my phone, after i click connect then plug the usb cable in, my laptop does not pick up the signal and nothing at all happens. however, once i click disconnect on my phone and the status reads disconnected, my laptop then pops up the LAN icon in the bottom right toolbar and shows its acquiring signal and then connects

why does my laptop show its connecting when my phone shows status of internet sharing as disconnected...and when status says check usb connection, my laptop cant pick up a signal anymore?

why the vice/versa?
