Spontaneous Bricking?

I am running a completely unmodified sprint mogul. I did the firmware upgrade from a few months ago which enabled the GPS and it has been working great, except that occasionally when I reset from a freeze I would get the bootloader screen. A couple times multiple resets and battery removals would fix it and then I used the titan_exitbl program which also worked a few times. Last night after a reset the phone got stuck in the bootloader and neither method works. The exitbl program says it worked and the phone resets only to show the bootloader again. I tried to put on the new sprint rom released a few days ago, it says it loads fine, but after it is done it is just the bootloader again. This has been done 4 times and still no success. Any one have any ideas of how to fix my phone?

Thanks!

Re: Spontaneous Bricking?

I had that same issue, but mine resolved after I pulled the battery, sync'ed it and then ran the update again. Since then (knock on wood) it has been fine.

Re: Spontaneous Bricking?

The hard reset doesn't do anything different from a normal reset, just goes to the bootloader.

If it helps at all the BL screen says
TITA100
SPL-2.06.0000
CPLD-9

Re: Spontaneous Bricking?

whats odd is that i do get this everytime i reboot if the phone is warm. so i take the battery out once it kools down then pop the battery back in. boots right up...this is with any rom. stock or cooked and on the olipro bootloader or N2Cs

Re: Spontaneous Bricking?

I'll give that a try, if there is a poorly soldered connection the cold may flex it back into place.

edit 10 minutes later. Placed in freezer for a few minutes, put the battery back in and it started up just fine. Now how do I reset the phone if it is unresponsive without it doing the same thing again?

Re: Spontaneous Bricking?

what was your original rom? did it happen to be 3.35? if so i'd suggest putting that rom back on the phone and keeping its radio and see if anything happens. I have a theory that the 3.35 doesn't allow full overwrite which can lead to compatibility issues down the road.

Re: Spontaneous Bricking?

oh...yeah...another thing that has worked for me was to bootup if you see the bootloader wait for it to say serial then plug in a motorola or blackberry charger not any HTC one...wait for the screen to say USB then hit the reset pin. im not diggin that freezer thing i just let it cool naturally or holding in front of an AC vent of something freezer for 10mins is...WHOA for me, id be ok doing that if there was no LCD attached.
