I did notice that I can not remove the bottom bar with this rom, and my top bar went away once.

FYI
I did use spb back up 2 with rom update without over writing any files.
I didnt have these issues with either bars on my last rom.

Never use a backup of another rom ...... that in it self will cause problems

Re: JD's ROM's

For the people who are testing DO NOT USE A BACKUP OF ANOTHER ROM if the old rom had problems you will bring them to this rom to ....

Re: JD's ROM's

So far, this test ROM is some very nice work.

Internet Sharing is patched out of the box for those that need it, the phone boots incredibly fast, and I've never seen the device switch orientation so fast. I mean its literally like *click* *done* *click* *done*

I'm not too sure how much I like the battery meter in the power screen. I kind of like seeing battery percentages.

I'd consider putting the Task Manager in the start menu too. It makes more sense to have it there than to have to fumble through a few menus to find it.

And holy crap - Skyfire is actually BLAZING fast on this ROM! I just watched a Youtube video and didn't feel like stabbing out my eyes.

Very impressive work here! I'm going to run it through some more paces and see how it fares but so far, I think I've found my ROM :)

My favorite thing - no text input lag. That always drives me nuts. I type extremely fast on my Mogul and it constantly misses letters. When I turn off the word suggestion, I still usually type too fast for the device on other ROMs but on this one, it hasn't skipped a single letter yet.

This 'test' ROM is on steroids!!!

EtherealRemnant 08-01-2008 04:44 PM

Re: JD's ROM's

Totally concur.

I'm blown away by the speed of it! Not only that, it hasn't done anything stupid yet... no2chem's pre8 is not as fast and can get pretty quirky at times...

Apps install hella fast to boot!

Re: JD's ROM's

ok thanks guys .... uhhh well I updated some drivers so in a day or so I will give you something else to test .... error reporting is not disabled so if you get an error please tell me exactly what it is ......

Re: JD's ROM's

Okay seriously JD, how the hell did you get the Windows folder to open up so fast? It doesn't even take a full second whereas its always been 5+ before!

asenduk 08-01-2008 06:21 PM

Re: JD's ROM's

yup, that windows folder opening in less than a second is something else. JD, please tell me that a kitcken release in the future is likely :) please!!! lol

interesting.....i come to the site to check for a n2c release and i see that JD has come to the darkside....i once flashed one of your ROMs on a buddies vogue and he's thanked me multiple times for it. he's since removed it for the stock GPS ROM, but was very impressed with yours when he ran it. i would love to give your titan ROM a whirl.....the posts of others have me excited... keep up the good work!

Re: JD's ROM's

Ok did a fresh install, that solved the top bar issue.

I still cant remove the bottom bar from the today screen other than that no issues.

This is the fastest/fav rom to date and Im going to keep this until you update

Re: JD's ROM's

Any good dialer suggestions?

I hate the stock dialer (as everyone does) but I don't want my data arrows, PST codes, or smartdialing to be broken.

Any hints? I could always use the Wizard ReTouched dialer but that breaks data arrows.

He seems to make stock dialer skins... I need a big button dialer... but this is the first ROM that I've used in about 5 months that didn't have broken data arrows and ## codes... I don't want that jacked up again.

The one in post #1 dated 7-25-08. Anyone else having trouble with HTCHome freezing?

Nevermind: I used HTC Home 2.1.1005.722 instead of the one I normally used and it is good.

We are not using the one dated 7 25 08. Its dated 7 31 08. Im not sure he has posted that one yet.

Re: JD's ROM's

Alright, I am now using the one dated 7-31 and it still freezes up on me. I have tried other versions of HTC Home and if it doesn't freeze, HHC errors out.

Edit - I FEEL LIKE A NOOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your problems have something to do with htc home and hhc they both have a problem with wm6.1 and my rom is 7-25 .... thats public so where did you get a 7-31

Re: JD's ROM's

Just thought I would update this...

I've had zero issues with my phone since putting this ROM on here. Extremely nice work man! Can't wait to see what's next!!

And to the person that asked, yes, using that dialer, pressing and holding 1 dials my voicemail just like normal. I've also tested ## codes and they all work. On top of that, my smartdialing works exactly like it should. I highly recommend that dialer, its excellent work!

Oh and I hit the most talk time I've ever gotten out of my phone yesterday - 5 hours - most I usually ever get is about 3.

EtherealRemnant 08-02-2008 08:05 PM

Re: JD's ROM's

JD, thank you thank you thank you for changing the dialer in the new test!

Also, something I noticed that is completely unique to your ROMs... Things get committed to ROM instantly.

I got a text message when the first boot came up and of course, auto install ran and then reset the phone... usually I'd have lost that text message but when the phone came back on, it was still there!

I even restored my contacts, call history, etc., with PIMBackup and immediately soft reset. Normally, I'd have lost everything again. I generally have to wait about 5 minutes before a soft reset.

The only glitch that was apparent from first boot is that the title bar pops up over the Windows Mobile logo before the calibration screen pops up. RAM seems to actually be about 2MB higher (pagepool change?) and amazingly, it feels even zippier.

Is there anything in particular that you'd like me to test out?

Re: JD's ROM's

With test 2 I can now remove the bottom today bar.

I noticed you used a 6meg page pool thats what I changed your last one to and this one is even faster.

Ill post a final review later.
