New to PPC's mods

Hello there, I recently purchased the HTC 6800. I was unimpressed with the WM6.0 it came with but after upgrading to WM6.1 released in the past few days I've decided not to take it back for a diffent HTC model.

I purchased the HTC 6800 so I would have somthing similar to a computer in the palm of my hand. I have read pretty substantilly through these forums the past few days and I am confused still on, "creating personal roms," "installing or flashing roms," and the overall implementations.

I was wondering if anyone had a numbered step by step instructions with definitions of why I am following the processes. I read some good guides but the terminology is still new to me.
