Using Mogul as Modem - Page 3

On the latest ROM (3.56), Sprint removed the option in Internet Sharing to choose between "Sprint PCS" and "Phone as Modem" connection profiles. Presumably this was an effort to stop unauthorized tethering. The reg change simply sets the default dialing profile to "Sprint PCS."

Sounds like your setup is working, but you might want to disconnect from your company internet connection and verify you are getting a connection through your phone before you hit the road. Sometimes the program can be a little flaky, but a soft reset will usually fix any connection issues you run into.

With rom 3.56 update, in order to use your phone as modem, you have to change some setting first by using PHM RegEdit to edit comm as mentioned above. Under HKEY_Local Machine/Comm/InternetSharing/Setting/ForceCellConne to Sprint PCS instead of Phone as Modem, soft reset and then you should be able to use phone as modem to connect laptop or pc.

Can't you just delete the "isext.dll" extenstion found under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing and have it work instead of switching Phone as Modem to Sprint PCS?

Maybe, I really don't know. That extension doesn't exist on the ROM I'm running, and I don't remember seeing it when I was one the official ROM (maybe I just missed it). Are you running the official 3.56? Does anyone else see that extension?

I do have that file but I would be more worried about deleting a DLL that making a registry key value change.

Then make a backup of that key....

It's not going to bork your phone. You can just add it back if you need to..

ISEXT.DLL stand for "Internet Sharing Extension" It's the same as the other "extension.dll" key that you have to delete in the older rom under the same registry key in order to disable the data errors. I found this one too, in place of the other and I deleted it, and I was able to use internet sharing after a soft reset.

You'll be fine if you delete it.

You can delete the "ForceCellConnection" folder if u want the Internet Sharing app to look like how it was on the previous ROM versions.

what if you have the sero plan? When it states that you have unlimited data and unlimited web. will they over look the teething since you have that plan. Or will they still charge you for it. if anyone has a answer can you pm. i don't sign on that much and i might get lost somewhere in the threads. thanks in advance.
