titan and SD cards

So when upgrading the flash, some cards work, others puke. when trying to run android some cards work, and others aren't recognized. Can anyone tell me what it is about one card that makes it readable and one not if they are formatted the same way? I can flash a rom from my SD cards just fine, but trying to load android gets me as far as the command line with an unmounted sd card, and I have used multiples (none are above 2gb).

I have formatted it using various programs on my phone, and even using vista and the mass storage option, with both quick and slow formats, but still none of my cards seem mountable. is it just the manufacturing of the cards? or is there some sort of low level formating that is possible to correct these inconsistencies?

I'd think its probably because Android is still in alpha testing. It's not going to work with everything.
