I did 12mb pagepool and thing i may knock it down a bit just to get back some of my RAM, because i use Opera alot, with lots of youtube tacked on the side. All in all though, i've had no major issues with Pre1. the pagepool, as i've come to understand, is just there for snappier/quicker program loading, at least that is the biggest improvement i've seen from using a larger one.

See, that's what I was thinking. Go the OTHER way with the PagePool. I thought Everything was fine with the 4MB on DCD's and the Kitchens from here :P

Hey no2chem, any updates/ETA on the working camera driver?

Hey no2chem, any updates/ETA on the working camera driver?

We'll see how far I get today. I got caught up with stuff in the vogue forum, so hopefully I can get everything working.

1. Thanks for the update No2chem.

2. Lets keep all discussion of the "other' hot No2chem thread out of here... there's already a place to discuss it there.

3. I'm running a 10mb pagepool...gonna take it down to 8 and not the performance. speed and responsiveness of manilla2D is just sick with 12, but if I can squeeze more ram without dinging performance then it'll be win win.

How do you guys like Manilla that much?
I tried it out, and it wasn't bad, but the fact that it doesn't work in landscape totally ruined it.

Yea......landscape issues and the fact that you have to scroll left and right to get to home or messages. If they were all together (meaning shrunk) so there was no need for scrolling left or right....it would be MUCH better.

You can edit the XML file to change the order and even hide some of the tabs.

i know it's a work in progress but i really love that this isnt a cobbled together WAD theme or even throttlelauncher theme. it's the real deal and it works incredibly well EVEN on my mogul! ahh the sweet smell of progress...

I am definitely not an expert by ANY definition of the term. However, I have been curious about the page pool issue. So, I'm trying to enter into this conversation to bounce some things around for discussion.

What benefit does the larger page pool give you?

From what I've been reading here, the carriers' set the pp larger on their OEM ROMs to allow the user to experience good response.

With NueROM3's extra memory, I took advantage by increasing the page pool size to run the same programs that I used to run on other ROMS, with much better device response and smoothness.

So. It depends on how you want to expend the extra memory that No2Chem has alowed us with NueROM3.

That would leave you with LESS free RAM.

Yes. It depends what you need. Do you need better performance or more memory to run more apps? I am happy to run MS Live GPS, Messaging, Opera and MSVC. When I want to do something else, then I close Opera.

Do applications just not use as much RAM if there is a larger pagepool? With the default 6MB in pre1, I have around 31MB free on boot. This is JUST enough to run iGo 8 and make a phone call at the same time (leaves about 3MB free) Same for Opera Mobile (well, not quite), I can actually USE Opera Mobile without it closing on me (save for a handful of sites that apparently just eat to much RAM).

I don't believe applications use less RAM, just because we set the page pool size to another value.

It just depends on how you want to spend those RAMs No2Chem is giving us. :-)
