Although it's not really push, I have all my email accounts forwarded to my sprintpcs.com email. I then have the sprintpcs account text notification enabled. whenever i get an email from any account...I get a text message from my sprint email, informing me to manually check on the phone. This solution gives me the ability to always know when a new email has arrived, as well as disabling the evdo when i'm done using it. thus...saving battery life.

Only reason i can think of as to why this wouldn't be the best solution for everyone, is if u can't pinpoint by the sender, (which is included in the text message u get from your sprintpcs email account) u don't know exactly which account to check when a new email has arrived. but a minor workaround, would be to jus check them all.

a trick i've been using for years even since i had a flip phone (and i'm now finally deciding to share) that most people probably aren't aware of. but i have seen some using the same method.

Unique idea, but wouldn't work for the amount of e-mail I get. I get enough text messages as it is. I'd be more likely to be successful by just randomly hitting Send/Receive throughout the day. There'll always be new mail that way.

I'm running pre-8 as well and things are running fine... i havent loaded it up with bells and whistles like i normally do cause i was expecting 2.2 final to be out not long after pre-8 dropped... never got back around to adding all my apps...

soon as 2.2 final is out and it has no dealbreakers I'll put my full setup on it.

Anyone else having a problem with Preview 7's performance becoming virtually unusable after a week or two? Last week after running the new Google Maps my phone was locking up or barely performing. And it wouldn't get any better after multiple soft-resets. I finally had to give up and hard-reset which made everything better... until today. I just tried to run SkyFire to see if it performed any better with the new D3D drivers and it wouldn't even start up. Since then my phone's performance is awful even after a soft-reset. Thoughts?

nah, ive been running pre-7 for quite some time and nothing really boggs that a softreset wont fix, though I just got into skyfire and I notice I have to soft reset pretty much every time I run it.

You profile shows your running Preview 8 btw, but as far as Preview 7 goes, occasionally the top bar disappears, but other than that haven't had any noteworthy issues like what you have described. Been using Preview 7 for some time...

anything is possible. but isn't this pretty equivalent to saying....jus wait till 'mail2web/gmail/yahoo etc' drops their service. you can throw any name in that spot and it'll mean the exact same.

yea, I use this method.. I ended up using 1 gmail account to check all my mail accounts (only checks hourly) and it is fwd'd to my pcs mail with txt notify....
I use an old app called project pushmail, it is similar to pushEffect
these will silently recive specific sms and check email.
