Re: nueROM 2.2 Bleeding Edge General Discussion Thread

Did something change in the authentication method for pocket Outlook? My old password didn't work anymore. Strangest thing... If I change one character in the password it works, but if I switch it back, it doesn't! Any ideas? D: Problem persists in IMAP/POP3. My password is... no just kidding. =P I was going to submit this to the Report thread, but I'm going to have to see if I can reproduce it with a different password than my own first.

Edit: I think I found the problem... function key on my hardware keyboard isn't working consistently anymore, haha... I guess it was a pebkac/ID-ten-T error. -_-

Battery Life

I saw tis quote from Mikee and do not know how to do this my self to see it helps the batter life. I found all these startup services in registry but I don't know which one to change. I loaded Pre-8 and with in 1 hour and only two phone calls I was down by 40%. All the same progarms loaded as in Pre-7.

"Services I disabled from startup are OBEX, CERTENROLL, SWMGMTSERVICE, SoftwareDisable, nueSlindingKB, nueDeviceLock, SMSRetry, PhoneExt, and Power."

"Well besides battery life which was somewhat brutal today before I set the above settings I will report back tomorrow with what I get. I changed all Power management settings to enabled now and I will see what happens. I also set data to turn off after 15 min of inactivity."

Thanks for any help!

Turning off word completion entirely fixed my keyboard problem.

No2 what do you think about utilizing a bug tracker for your ROMs? It would be easier to maintain than a thread with bugs listed in it. It would also help you track what is fixed and create an automatic change log. I would be happen to setup, host and help maintain the bugtracker. Something like Bugzilla or Trac...

Let me know if you are interested.

ooh good find... i bet you read the directions? ;)

Then choose auto and watch it install the files to the device and sd card base on the configuration you setup.

We are sort of hijacking No2's thread here, but you need to read the docs. Everything in Auto\Cabs gets installed to the device, things in Auto\Cabs\SC gets installed to the Storage Card. If you do not have the 6.1 beta you will find that under Bengalih's thread on XDA midway through the tread. The SC piece did not originally work with the Mogul, we worked through that and now it does even with the Extended Rom active.

After installing the new rom do we still need to pull the battery and perform a hard reset?

Re: nueROM 2.2 Bleeding Edge General Discussion Thread

I must be having a lot more problems with this ROM than everyone else...

it seems like every time the device lock kicks in, I get a jacked up screen much like the screenshots that have been posted, I've had a few freezes here and there, and my device is MUCH laggier than it was before. The only thing I really do with my phone now that I have my data card is text... and even with predictive text turned off, the phone is still not able to keep up with my speed of text entry while pre7 was blistering fast.

How do I disable that screen lock? I can't seem to find a setting for it or a startup entry. I think I'm going to go back to s2u2.

I have had a very similar experience. To turn it off go to Settings --> System --> Key Lock

From there it is pretty obvious.

LoL. It was right there in front of my face the whole time. I missed that somehow. *oops*

I just hard reset the device again and everything seems to be running smoother. It may very well have been the fact that the screen locked when first boot was running and crashed it that caused the problem, not the ROM itself. Its being pretty zippy now and RAM is stable at 25MB

yea,(un-scientific so posted here) after being plugged into activesync for a while, installing apps, or just plain running some stuff for a while seems to mess with the key lock screen every lock. a soft reset seems to fix, I'm waiting for it to come back and will see if turning the clock off fixes.

this reminded me. this is called KEY Lock. I wonder if SCREEN Lock, would be a good way to differentiate between button vs, touch screen. (with extra options in KEY lock for answer & end)

agreed, I ended up doing a hard reset last night due to a gps issue I was messing with (troubleshooting navizon's sprint cdma collecting)
and also didn't let it lock during customizations, and have yet to see the time warp again.

I was running 5069 and I just flashed 5770 pre8. While running Tier Autoinstall, I receive errors saying run_sprint_tsk.ink, ppst.exe, and chgscutattri.exe does not exist in the windows folder. I didn't have this problem in 5069.

I reflashed the phone and the same problem occurred. Am I doing something wrong?

Is their a Sprint TV cab that works with pre8? (and no, I'm not asking for free software, since I do have a subscription to Sprint TV)

If I thought that Skyfire was slow before... its taken about 50 steps back now.

It loads pages uber quick... but navigating them literally takes two seconds before it registers that you've moved your finger on the screen, THEN it downloads the cached image from Skyfire's servers.

I know its not the build of Skyfire because I was running it on 5069k no problem. Admittedly though, I don't think I've tried it on any of the 2.2 previews until now so I don't know if this has been an ongoing issue or not.

Either way, I'm pretty much relegated to just use nothing but Opera Mini for now since Opera 9.5 is unusable too just in its beta nature...

Crap, I was about to argue with you that it's working fine, but then realized I hadn't used it since installed 8 and now it's useless. Crap, I rely on Skyfire. Best mobile browser right now.

Well I got about 20% better battery life today than yesterday so I would say what I did above works. It still seems this rom though eats battery but its the quickest I have ever seen to date.

Yes I do that after every rom upgrade that I don't make in the kitchen. As for today I posted above a 20% better battery life. I need to find where the battery drain is though. It sure seems that its going down mighty faster than previous roms and one's I cook.

shaggylive 07-18-2008 09:46 PM

Re: nueROM 2.2 Bleeding Edge General Discussion Thread

it's my belief that the rom needs a battery history to fully maximize it's use/reading. otherwise how does it know what 0% truly is?

edit; has anyone compared the current discharge between revisions (stock) (or those that have customization scripts [for consistency])
also does running IOTA make any difference for sprint users?

I just wanted to be clear that my original statement is a belief and I have no evidence to support this.

No. A bleeding edge release is somewhere between an Alpha and a Beta release. Think of it as partially complete.
