That was the first thing I tried.
However not all fonts were referenced in nuefonts, some - such as the font for "start" in the menu on top - are not effected by the settings in nuefonts. Some text menus have strange formatting with the new default font as well, even if set back to Tahoma in nuefonts (try pressing reset from QuickMenu to see what I mean- the font is tahoma, but the spacing in between lines has a huge gap, cutting off the bottoms of some sentences.

After messing with the registry, I found a happy medium, but it took dozens of attempts and long nights messing about with it.

It was NOT working in pre7. Its an older app that uses the buillt in devicelock. Simple, small and works everytime.

Well, I didn't bring my USB cable home from work, so couldn't try this. After not being able to sync with mail2web through activesync for the past few hours of trying, I decided to uncheck the box that selects an encrypted (SSL) connection. It then worked!

So all I've done is isolate that it worked when an encrypted connection is not used. Still not sure if this is related to Pre8, or if mail2web servers are having trouble tonight with encrypted connections.

TouchPal 3.5

Well,
I am not sure how some of you guys are able to install TouchPal.
I have not had any luck at all.
After the installation it doesn't even show up under installed programs.
I know in the previous thread there was talk of some people not having 2 files install correctly and I was never able to isolate which files those were.
Can somebody post the 2 files I need and which directory to place them into?
Thanks for helping me with this.

This rom seems a lot slower than pre7. I might fall back to pre7 for now. And I don't like the lock... if the device goes to sleep and I'm on the text messaging screen, I lose my x-button and have to push the messaging button on the phone to get it back so I can get to my other messages. That and the fact that it locked while the device was on the alignment screen and I couldn't get it off to finish first boot... so right now I'm running totally barebones lol.

Anyone else have some quirkyness with UC? I have a lengthy UC script (runs for about 20 minutes) and it hung three times with installing different cabs. (I did a bunch of testing today.) Each time I had to hard reset and start the process over. Has anyone else seen this or is it just my setup?

It installs all (I mean ALL) of my apps, copies all my software's themes, configures activesync and sets every registry setting. The only think I have to do it pick my wm theme.

Most of the time is spent on the cab installs. I love UC and it makes rom testing pretty painless!

including kevan's mirror is actually a good idea to lessen the strain on the ftp and site resources.

I think I am screwed.... I just flashed the latest rom and reset the phone. When i saw the htc screen I removed the battery and was going to do a hard reset.. Now I have nothing... The phone won't hard reset or soft reset or boot to the bootloader just sits there like the battery is not installed. If I plug it in to the charger the light goes red... Any suggestions before I call and get a new phone?

No2Chem I just wanted to say well done! Best rom ever! I pulled away from the kitchen to test you v8 release and I must say WOW! The speed is awesome. I could not deal with the nue locking feature though so I disabled the service until it is selectable. Also the bluetooth did not drop or turn off at all. Man I cannot wait for a basekit!

So this is what I have done for additional tweaking

I changed the page pool to 6.5MB
Disabled poutlook.ink from startup
Disable znueHibernate.ink from startup

Services I disabled from startup are OBEX, CERTENROLL, SWMGMTSERVICE, SoftwareDisable, nueSlindingKB, nueDeviceLock, SMSRetry, PhoneExt, and Power.

One thing I noticed was a HTCDispSrvc which was set to auto start but cannot start. Is this something to do with Direct3d?

Well besides battery life which was somewhat brutal today before I set the above settings I will report back tomorrow with what I get. I changed all Power management settings to enabled now and I will see what happens. I also set data to turn off after 15 min of inactivity.

You are the man No2Chem, I look froward to the RC release. I never thought I would see the day of a spontaneous screen orientation. Well the day has come. I will be shooting you a nice pay pal donation this week.

Thanks,

Mikee

I was able to get my phone to sync with mail2web, using an encrypted connection. It was painfully slow though. I have a feeling the issue lies with mail2web and not the rom.

I've been using Sashimi to customize. Mine takes about 45 minutes. However, I cannot confirm what you're experiencing, only because I only installed a few things I really needed on this ROM, rather than running Sashimi!

I do hope your experience isn't typical!

i havent had the mental energy to tackle sashimi yet... i'm sure i could learn it.. but it still seems daunting :drunken: but just like most things i'm sure it's worth the reward once you set it to your liking.

I was wondering - was about to try this new ROM, however, I remember before pre-7 you removed the "menu sounds". I know, I know, I am weird, but I like those sounds. Is there a .cab around that will allow me to put them back in, or is there another way to do it?

I am still trying to figure out a few things with ShaShimi. All-in-All it's a great tool. I wish I knew a way to deal with programs that require user interaction during installation. If I didn't have to click things it would probably take 20 minutes to install everything!

That is the reason for the Manual Auto Mode in Shashimi. Put those Cab files that do require user input into the Manual directory and then run the Manual + Auto selection - takes just a few minutes to go through those that require intervention and then it takes off and finishes on auto-pilot. Shashimi really isn't daunting at all just put your files into the appropriate directory and start tweaking from there. You find yourself getting down to pulling a few inane registry entries just because you can and they are all you have left to play with once everything else gets automated.

What I was trying to figure out with shashimi in the auto folder does how does it know where to install the file device or sd card. Thats my biggest problem with shashimi. I was thinking along the lines that you setup in the auto folder.. Tell it where you wanted it to install for each file, like a one time setup configuration thing. Then choose auto and watch it install the files to the device and sd card base on the configuration you setup.

installs to device.. no way around that one that i know of. most auto installers are the same way.

Oh Well ... If implimented this idea it would be great

Filename device sd/ card Manual Auto

Example.cab √ √

Example2.cab √ √

Cause we install the sames files over and over therefore
we know where they need to go..

Actually, no, you can make them auto install to the SD card, you put the cabs you want installed to the card inside the SC folder, so it's SASHIMI --> Auto --> CAB --> SC

I think this is entirely dependent on the individual app. They'll each store them in different places and in different ways, assuming even that they DO put them in the registry and not store them in some other place/way.

I know what you mean. I just started on Sashimi, and first I just have to start organizing the manuals versus the autos (I don't remember which ones require "intervention"). The next step is to start figuring out what registry settings I need to export.

Beyond that I really need to learn how to build those XML files. Built one for my POP/IMAP accounts (when I added Exchange it screwed it up big-time, so I have to put that in manually), but I need to start figuring out how to do most of my other customizations through this.

I can't wait for this to be available in a kitchen. I'd love to upgrade now, but I'm lazy and don't want to have to hunt down cabs. I'm currently on 5067 and just recently the keyboard has been giving me problems (sometimes not working and sometimes repeating characters). If there isn't a 2.2 kitchen soon I guess I'll just have to hard reset.

Sounds like we are in the same boat....the email settings for your email account shouldnt be that bad. I used a tool over at XDA and wrote up cab for my 3 imap accounts and "exchange server" in a few minutes...let me know if u need some help and i can show u what i did

So what did you end up using as your final settings? I like the stock fonts, everything else seems hard for me to see.

BTW I couldn't access the FTP in FireFox3. At first it came up as "user does not exist" then when it did come up it was blank! I used IE to download the files.

There's a cab to fix the keyboard issue posted three or four times in the 2.1 thread.
