Suggestion for the BuildOS kitchen...
Hey all. I just have a suggestion for the BuildOS kitchen program. All this stuff going on about the Titan needing to be unlocked and all this stuff is really confusing to some of us (like me). I don't want to brick a phone, and I've seen several people talk about successful flashing. So, what I would suggest is that when a person hits play to build their own rom, do this:
1) Assemble the files and build the rom
2) Pop up a screen that has specific step by step instructions with pictures (for the extreme noob) and links to known (good) unlockers, radios etc. for the phone specified (Apache, Titan, Vogue).
3) Have the user actually check off the steps they've done so they don't forget something (i.e. [ ] unlock phone with unlocker x becomes [X] unlock phone with unlocker x). And don't allow the next step until the previous is checked off (this whole option can of course be turned off if someone is just refining their rom).
4) Once the phone is unlocked, radioed and ready for the OS, run the RUU and upload the OS.
5) List any additional instructions like hard resets or something.
I figure if something like this was integrated into the kitchen, more people would have more success and feel less apprehensive about updating to something real. There's already a donations page that pops up so this wouldn't be a problem. In fact, maybe you could do a split window. One side would be the progress of the build and the other would be the instructions to follow so they could prep their phone while the rom is building (since it takes a while). Just a thought, but one at least I would appreciate. Anyone else in on this?
