Thumbs up New 3.56 ROM Poll

Thought it might be helpful for some users to get a quick view of how most of us are faring with this new rom.

(Oops, sorry for the typo in the poll!)

Re: New 3.56 ROM Poll

Ok, I"ll be the first to post!!! I'm running the stock rom right now with no customizations... So far I've been able to do everything. The phone has not lagged as it did before, everything works except the number 1 key on the dialer still has a transparecy on it. Everything else works flawless. I had noticed on previous roms that when you opened Windows Media, the memory would drop dramaticaly alsmost needing a soft reset after using it. now I don't see that, if I close it I get the memory back and it does not eat that much memory.

I've loaded
SPB Mobile Shell 2.1
Epocrates
Bejeweld
Google Maps
Vouge Custom Dialer
sMMS (Its the bomb!!!)

Re: New 3.56 ROM Poll

Only problem I had was text not working right, when I roamed I was getting unknown senders on all incoming texts. I text alot so I had to figure out who was sending what texts. But that could also be a radio problem? not for sure?

Re: New 3.56 ROM Poll

ROM is the best yet. Much better than the March ROM. Mucho better than the leaked beta version, of this same ROM.

Re: New 3.56 ROM Poll

I found that the new rom works well but it's memory footprint is not suited for the Titan. There just isn't enough memory available on the phone and this rom still appears to have a memory leak. Here is a problem area I run into all of the time. I use Opera 8.65 and listen to music while I surf. If I open three or more tabs it causes the music player to be closed because of the limited memory. This seems like a really bad flaw which could have been addressed if microsoft had added a virtual memory capability in the OS or if they had been more concerned about keeping the memory footprint smaller. I wish it were possible to return to WM5 on this phone. That is the OS this phone was designed around and the fetures of the newer OS (threaded messaging) really doesn't add that much more capability considering the loss of functionality.

Re: New 3.56 ROM Poll

I'm liking the threaded sms app. Still like the feel of cody's better, but nothing beats a native app.
The only problem I've seen is sometimes me sms reply text does not show up when I type. I know it's there because it shows up after I send it!

Besides that, I'm lovin it!

Re: New 3.56 ROM Poll

I haven't had any issues so far with it. I miss PocketCM for the way you could navigate your contacts, but I'm fine with the way 6.1 threads SMS.

I have the following installed:
HTC Home Customizer
Opera Mini
Skyfire
Palringo
Google Maps
Sprint TV
HTC Album
HTC Audio Manager
nueLED
.NET CF 3.5
MemMaid
Mobile Vista Dialer

Also, I'm using the 60613 PRL.

You have nearly the same amount of free memory as you did with the previous official ROM, so I don't know what you're talking about. As for a memory leak, I haven't experienced that myself thus far.

That might be true, but that's a discussion for another time; that has nothing to do with this ROM or the Mogul.

It is possible, actually; there's a WM5 ROM floating around here somewhere; possibly on xda-devs.

That's a valid argument if you're experiencing memory issues; if you don't like this version, you can always downgrade. I'd encourage you to hard reset your phone and then soft reset it before allowing the customizations to run, and give it another shot.

Re: New 3.56 ROM Poll

My memory issue is I know run out of memory quicker, its almost the like memory management is wacked out. I have had frequent webpages overload my memory and i never had this issue before. It just seems like programs hog up more resources then they did before i has this ram.

Dont know if this is related, but Explain this, I can use the pocketplus today plugin with all of my today plugins and sit aorund 21.7mb free. If I load the plugin directly to my today screen i sit at 19.4 and eventually leak memory down to around 17.

Re: New 3.56 ROM Poll

I must admit, I have been playing with my wife's phone (mogul) more than mine (vogue) since both of our phones have the newer roms. She has no problems with this rom, I, on the other hand have an annoying issue with the location app not being on by default...
