What happened to my activesync partnership?

I just flashed my phone with the No2Chem 5067 kitchen but was having some problems with the kitchen that I cooked... flashed again with a bare kitchen with nothing on it and the phone is working fine now but...

my activesync partnership seems to be gone... meaning when I open up activesync, there is no partnership there any more. I tried to sync my phone contacts back to my phone after I flashed it and it seemed like activesync froze for a minute or two and then the phone disconnected. Now there is no partnership for my phone there and activesync is not starting when I restart my computer. I can open it manually but I can't sync my phone. I'm hoping I didn't lose everything.

Re: What happened to my activesync partnership?

When you reflash or hard reset your phone, it assigns a new name to your phone and thus breaking the partnership between your phone and ActiveSync.

If your phone is not connecting to ActiveSync, try changing the USB to PC settings. Just uncheck the enable advance settings (or whatever) and it should work for you.

Let me know if that works or if you are refering to something and I misunderstood.

thats not always true because when I first got my phone and flashed it when the GPS/Rev-A rom came out it paired just fine, it didn't create a new name or anything it just paired like it normally did but when I flashed it to the new 3.49 leaked rom it did. I still don't know why and I even changed the name on the mogul back to what it was before and it still tries to create a new partnership and I tried connecting it through bluetooth and it still tried to connect to a new partnership but all my contacts somehow got on my phone regardless...I don't know what this means or how to fix it but I am going to refrain from activesyncing my phone until I have a way to save all my contacts elsewhere because if I activesync I'll lose all of them

When you flash a new ROM or do a hard reset, the partnership/trust breaks. It's just like if you connected your computer to a Domain. If you reinstall Windows from scratch, still keep the same name for the computer, you will have to rejoin it to the domain because the trust is broken.

However, you can use PIM Backup to backup your contacts, notes, tasks, call history, speed dial, etc.

That absolutely did the trick. I unchecked the box with the phone plugged in and immediately the phone began connecting with the computer. It asked me what to name the new partnership and the original name for my phone popped up and voila.. I have everything working again. Many thanks!

Re: What happened to my activesync partnership?

I've found that restoring a Sprite 6 backup after a flash keeps the activesync (or in my case WMDC in Vista) partnership intact. Just do the restore before connecting the phone to the computer for a sync

Re: What happened to my activesync partnership?

I have OEMIZER set up personal settings, including the original device ID when flashing. This seems to avoid the issue of multiple partnerships and folders on the desktop.
