Man, when the hell are we going to get MMS. This is just sad... I had my mogul setup to send MMS via custom software hacks and stuff but those dont work anymore.

Ok, so I knew there were some issues with HTC phones not being able to send MMS on sprint network. I recall a article where sprint said they were trying to work on getting it working and it was some kind of design issue. Right about that time the hacked Arcsoft solution stopped working.

We're working with Microsoft to build a PictureMail application that will work on their Windows product to give you a similar experience as our other products. As some of you may be aware, currently, you can actually do this on a Windows product, but you have to do it through e-mail or Bluetooth. We realize this is cumbersome. We're working to enhance this for you soon.

That's great news for Windows Mobile fans that are dying to get MMS on their Sprint cellphones. Unfortunately, it seems that one man's good news is another's not-so-good news. Sprint and Palm have apparently held up their Palm Treo 800w launch due to the addition of this MMS software. On the one hand, it's good to hear that the Windows Mobile 6.0 (most likely 6.1 by the time it launches) Professional-powered smartphones will be getting jiggy with MMS.
So I guess it has been confirmed, 100%, that along with the native threaded SMS in wm6.1 we will also have fully working MMS over sprint networks? I took a picture of a funnel cloud yesterday on the road and wanted to send it to a friend. I then remembered how lame it was not to have working MMS and my "jimmy rigged" Arcsoft quasi-MMS solution was no longer working.

Thanks for bringing me up to date on this.

In regard to SprintTV - Does this mean we can simply run the program and it comes pre-loaded on the ROM but we have no subscriptions for anything. In other words, we cant really view anything anyway? Or do they plan to allow at least some basic channels (i.e. CNN, etc.)? I have a SERO package and I have managed to get SprintTV up and running with current ROM but I cant really access anything due to subscriptions. I was able to access 5-6 channels a few months ago but that has since changed. To what extent can a standard (or SERO) user expect to have in terms of access to channels?

smms works great on my 6800, nice interface, the newest version no longer expires every month and gives notifications and such like a real embedded mms program.

What are you talking about? MMS on a custom wm6.1 rom or a more recent 3rd party solution like Arcsoft thats setup to work on Sprint's network?

Update: oh i see now, youre referring to sMMS (third party). Thanks guys, im getting back up to date on the current, best MMS solution right now.

Re: Sprint ROM release date speculation

MMS is NOT included as part of the WM6.1. At least not on Sprint. I've run several variations of WM6.1, both custom and the official beta, and not one of them has MMS built in like you want. Sprint IS working on a solution, but as cj10488 has mentioned, it will come out by itself, NOT as part of a new ROM. Timeframe for that is in the summer, after the new ROM officially drops in mid July.
Also, sMMS is a fantastic program. It is a 3rd party program, but one of the best I've seen, give Sprint's MMS limitations. It was entirely designed for the problems you just describe a few posts ago. It is free for partial use, and a $5 paypal donation gets you features like an inbox for you pictures. The interface is great, you should really look into it. Its stickied in the software thread.

Re: Sprint ROM release date speculation

Wow.. i wish people would seriously just listen to James. Take a second and read the thread before you make your 5th post on PPCGeeks based off something you googled, or otherwise have no idea about. It sucks to see the correct information posted then re-posted over and over for all the new kids in the class who don't have the patience, or courtesy to read the frickin thread.

James said MID JULY for the ROM... MMS WON'T BE INCLUDED... IT WILL COME SEPARATELY LATER THIS SUMMER.

Re: Sprint ROM release date speculation

Thanks guys, I was simply asking what the deal was. I was not trying to post any misinformation about MMS being in wm6.1 or anything like that. I was hoping we would see a MMS solution in this rom update but I guess not.

Update: I finished reading the full thread and see that a lot of the info was clearly already posted. I was in a hurry here at work. I dont have as much time anymore so I jump in on threads a lot and sometimes dont read all the posts. In this instance, it really bit me.

That wasn't directed toward you at all.. it was directed toward those who have like 9 posts here on PPCGeeks and have come into this thread to argue with the ONLY person who actually knows what's going on with the ROM update. It's kindof annoying when people are like "google says this", or "that's not true, cause customer service told me different".. i could tell stories for days about how customer service has no idea what's going on with anything, and by "customer service" i mean the people you can't understand when you call *2, not the people here on the board who are contrubuting to things. Kudos to you guys!

It was nothing against you personally. I know that time these days is spread pretty thin, but it's the younger ones who aren't in school for the summer, who actually HAVE the time to read the thread and don't.. that's who i have trouble with. It's laziness combined with a lack of patience and respect. Everyone wants everything handed to them these days and they just don't wanna work for anything. Work.. read the thread, and you'll get your answers..

All i'm asking is that people have some consideration for others! haha.. eff..

Sorry, i need a smoke.. haha
