Re: WModem 2.25 OEM and Cab - Works on Titan - UPDATED
Before this falls off the first page and gets forgotten about, does anybody know if this would work the same with the touch? Seems to me it might work just fine but I wanted to know if anybody else knows for sure

What is the advantages to using this *cab instead of the default installed version 2.32? If I just change the "Use Preset GPRS Settings" to use wap.cingular instead of isp.cingular, disable the proxy for the Media Net connection, as well as changing both settings to Media Net under advanced network management, (connect to network, connect to private network), won't the effect be the same? Furthermore, what is the functional difference between using Wmodem.exe and IntShrUI.exe?

Finally for all: WModem.exe gives you: 1. A public IP address - this alone should be enough... 2. No NAT means no routing. Routing requires CPU cycles. That's why the phone gets hotter than a ***** with internet sharing apps. Its even worse with the power usage for wifi. 3. No routing means less latency. I mean come on, we complain about how slow these phones are constantly... you really want it to try to push your internet connection while its already choking on itself?!?!? The computer interfaces with the hardware and controls the hardware not the phone. With internet sharing apps your computer thinks its talking to another computer or router... it just happens to be a much crappier and less powerful one. |

Re: WModem 2.25 OEM and Cab - Works on Titan - UPDATED
Thanks. One more question regarding Internet sharing. When it is enabled on my HTC 8925, is my battery also capable of being charged at the same time? The reason I ask is because when I had my MotoQ9h, it would not charge the phone when I was tethering.
Yes, I was aware that I was interfacing with the Internet connection on the telephone, and not actively using minutes. I have not, (nor do I want to), establish a CSD connection, I only have 450 any time minutes and 5000 N/W minutes. I asked what the difference between 2.25 and 2.32.00 because the ATT WM6.1 ROM has version 2.32.00 by default. |

Re: WModem 2.25 OEM and Cab - Works on Titan - UPDATED
Sorry if this is stupid question but..
Just last night I went from having an xv6800 on Rom:2.09.605.8/Radio:1.30.60 for 6 months to DCD 3.3.4/Radio 3.42.50... Wow this things so much faster!! Now i pay my $45/month to verizon for broadband access connect (legal tethering)... And in the past was using "Modem Link" then VZ Access to connect....... now with DCD 3.3.4 I dont see modem link anymore.. used ICS for today... tomorrow I'd like to use Wmodem as I just read all the advantages to it... My question: whats the difference between Wmodem and whatever method would utilize verizons vzaccess manager program to dial the connection? is either any "better" for a faster connection? Thx in advance. Thx Talyn!! azhummer |

does anyone else find this confusing for vzw customers? the link referenced talks sprint stuff and i'm not sure how it applies.
i have the cab installed on the phone and the drivers/software on my laptop but have no idea how to config the phone or the laptop, everything is so confusing... how about a step by step....that applies to vzw! |
