Please Explain What Makes The 3.49 ROM Soooo Fast

Hi,

Can someone(s) please explain in n00b terms what makes a ROM fast, especially the 3.49 ROM just released?

I would think a lot of work goes into making the kitchen and creating custom ROM's. I'm not asking for detail on your programming styles, I'm just curious in general "How to make a fast ROM?"

This information my be good for people(n00bs) trying to understand a little of the voodoo that you guys do.
