Newb Question from a non-Newb about 3.49

I was going to go ahead and give the 3.49 radio a try today. I'm running no2chem's 5067. Do I need to lock the phone to use the Sprint leaked ROM or can I/should I just flash with it unlocked?

Re: Newb Question from a non-Newb about 3.49

Hey dkincaid, you can flash it with it unlocked. However, a lot of people have had trouble with flashing 3.49 OS and/or Radio ROM from the RUU so you might have to take the MicroSD route. I have flashed many times directly from the RUU without unlocking (both Radio and OS ROM).

I think you might have better success with flashing the entire 3.49 ROM and then flashing no2chem's 5067 ROM.

Yes, that was my plan. I was just going to flash the beta rom, then flash 5067. So, I don't have to lock/unlock etc? I thought that might have changed with 3.35, but I wasn't positive.

i'm pretty sure that's what he meant.

i flashed 3.39 radio only last night and am using no2chem 5065 as my rom. the first few boots seemed problematic/slow... but after that it's been fine. not much noticeable difference in signal quality, but pie is much faster in loading pages now -- even faster than when i was using the manual dns server settings (2.2.2.1 & 2.2.2.2)

gps is also faster and more acurate for me now with this radio...

Nope...no lock/unlock necessary...no downgrading/upgrading bootloader necessary either. Should work directly from the RUU if using Windows XP. It might take two to three tries but it will work from RUU.

correct, mine worked on the first try but it did take a while to start showing the "percentage" complete.
