Talking ExtRom exposed in DCD's 3.xx Rom's (w/full read and write access)

Hey guys,

a couple of people encouraged me to repost the instructions and files needed to have access to the ExtRom in DCD's roms.

I was reading the issues that some of u guys are having with dcd 3.12 release.

I to have had some issues that came up, but i was able to fix them because i had access to the extrom and added needed files and edited the config.txt to correct some settings.

I know there are some people who would like to use the ExtRom as extra storage and what not.

I was working on a project (im still in the middle of it) that changed the properties a little of the ExtRom and now it is seen as a "Mounted Volume", instead of the ExtRom. Had to be done in order to get it to be accessible with DCD's XIP's / Roms

It should work with most of DCD's recent rom releases, I take no responsibilty
for any damage this might cause, use at your own risk.

I have been using it for about a month on 4 different version of DCD's roms and have had not 1 incident because of it. So thats Y i thought i would share.

hope the instructions r clear enough to follow.
Enjoy !

if this was useful, just click on thank u.

Re: ExtRom exposed in DCD's 3.xx Rom's (w/full read and write access)

hey fellas,
could u click the "thank u" if u download this file so i know whether this was helpful to anyone/

And if u cooked it in a rom could u let me know if it is working ok, or if an issue came up, Im trying to get an idea of the stability and if it can stand the test of different configurations from the different users.

i was only 1 testing and sometimes im not able to replicate all the different types of setups that are out there and i would like to know if there was any conflicts or issues that popped up while using it/ thank u

I guess i wasted everyones time since no one has posted to say if they had downloaded it or tried it out.

It would be nice to know if it worked for anyone else.

Re: ExtRom exposed in DCD's 3.xx Rom's (w/full read and write access)

ok ill see if i can load it here, might be small enough;

I really could use the feed back because im working on another project which knowing if this is compatible or not would help.

AND for u guys that have been having issues with MMS and EPST in DCD's 3.12 build, I cant tell u guys enough, that crap gets put into the EXTROM, And maybe not from the customization (because u didnt run ) that u think that nothing will get put in there. Well i tell that i found parts of Windows Live, And the Inbox from setting up my email and parts of Tom Tom and all kinds of stuff gets in there and How would anyone who doesnt have the ExtRom exposed Know?

here u go peepeesea

Re: ExtRom exposed in DCD's 3.xx Rom's (w/full read and write access)

Sorry I guess for wasted everyones time since no one has posted to say if they had downloaded it or tried it out.

I thought for sure that their would be some people who would want to have access to the ExtRom in DCD's Custom roms.

Wouldve been helpful for me to get some feedback from someone, hell ANYONE, that it worked or didnt work for them.

NOT ONE PERSON HAS LET ME KNOW IF THIS WORKED OR NOT FOR THEM!!
I FEEL STUPID!! to think i was going to contribute something instead of taking for a change made me feel good. I worked for hours to try and figure this out.

I never imagined that there would not be a single post to tell me whether it worked for someone or not.

Well i dont think i will take up anymore of your space on this forum with meaningless posts. I will just crawl back under my rock.

Yes, go back under the rock you came from. (JUST A JOKE)

The reason there are no response to the post, where all afraid of something new and busy trying out DCD v3.1.2 with RADIO v3.39, please do get discouraged. A noob like me would like to thank developers like you for the assistance and new WOWS for the device.

Another thing posting on http://forum.xda-developers.com where DCD users using the BuildOS.

In the "READ ME FIRST !!!!!.txt is there an error? Is there a space between "\ Ext.."
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\ EXT_FLASHDRV]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\ EXT_FLASHDRV\FATFS]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\ EXT_FLASHDRV]

1. What I have experienced is an error message 'Error building boot.hx!' when I BuildOS

3. Device has locked up a HTC boot screen
4. Can reflash back to other ROM with no ill effects

yes, there is no mistake, It is exactly the way it is in the boot.rgu i use.
But i will remove the space and then try and cook a rom with the edited reg and see what happens.
The conflict might lie with the program "BuildOS" . I have been using "BuildNB.bat" that comes with DCD's kitchen.
I havent tried it with that builder, and i want to say thank u for trying it, That is very useful to know.
I will look into the differences of both the Builders and see what is causing the errror.

Re: ExtRom exposed in DCD's 3.xx Rom's (w/full read and write access)

Part of the problem is.... people like me aren't going to waste their time with an extrom package. I have a package on my SD card that I use like an extrom to install everything I need after a flash has been done. There is really no benefit to an extrom in my opinion. It's more a matter of where you want the package to reside... in the rom or on your card.
