Question US non-major CDMA carrier question for Flashing ROM.

Hello,

This is my first post.

My question is about flashing a ROM. I downloaded PPCKithen, did all the updates.
When you run BuildOS, and I chose No2Chem 5060 build...before you can build the ROM with your options, you have to pick a US cellular carrier.

The CDMA carrier we have in Alaska is Alaska Communication Systems. So... which carrier do I pick for the ROM or does it matter?

I have a HTC PPC-6800 running WM6 from my local CDMA carrier, ACS.

Thanks for you help.

I am working to get an ACS rom dump from coldmogul, after that is captured the customizations can be added to the kitchen.

Glad to see I'm not the only frosty one playing around with this.

I've started playing around with it, but really wanted something as a potential fallback in case I screw the pooch, so to speak.

Can't say I'm blown away with the level of technical savvy that ACS has to offer. At least here on the peninsula.

Re: US non-major CDMA carrier question for Flashing ROM.

Hey coldmogul.

Yeah, I have other friends that are chopping at the bit to get GPS enabled on their ACS 6800s. I'm from Fairbanks.

Anyways....how long will it be before you can get a ROM dump to Imcokeman?

Don't get you hopes to high for the tech boys at ACS....they suck.

Coldmogul,

Thanks for doing your part to help free the 6800s here in Alaska!

Now we'll just wait for Imcokeman and his elite group to add ACS to PPCkitchen.

Had a temp workaround, but starting to be buggy. I'll keep playing with it.

Re: US non-major CDMA carrier question for Flashing ROM.

Hey AlaskanGeek,

Since the info has been dumped and in Imcokeman's hands, I figured I'd go ahead, take a chance and play around with some different configurations and see what I could make work in the meantime.

After loading Olipro 2.4, Radio 3.27 and dcd 2.3.2 Bell ROM, I have GPS up and running as well as data connections (phone and LAN) and incoming/ outgoing calls. Didn't even have to run IOTA.

I'm only showing 1x towers, but that's not unusual for down here, but it's not roaming and while there were some changes in EPST ( NAM, Security, etc), everything functioned both before changing them and after. Does show CellSouth as the carrier in the dialer , but a quick Reg tweak should take care of that. I had loaded VetVito's Black Pill Universal ROM first, but there were some sound issues. That's where the CellSouth came from.

Re: US non-major CDMA carrier question for Flashing ROM.

Wow, sounds good.

Keep me posted on your testing results. I would jump in and try the Bell ROM, just to get the GPS function, but my ACS 6800 is my employer's device. So......but once ImCokeMan gets the configs added to the kitchen, I will jump right in.

Unless you do not experience any major issues with the Bell configurations.

(I hope that doesn't stop ImCokeMan from still adding ACS to the kitchen!)
