Re: Uscc 6800 Gps, Custom Roms, Downgrading Guide

OK. Password had me for a while. Tried 000000 and it let me in. That was easy!

I still have just uscc.net as the address.

Security
HDR AN AUTH User Id(LONG) HEX@uscc.net
HDR AN AUTH Password(LONG) HEX
PPP USER ID 414#######@uscc.net
PPP PASSWORD gibberish...

Thanks for pointing that out; it prompted me to look closer into it. YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT... IT SHOULD BE "@uscc.net" ON EITHER CIRCUMSTANCE! I figured out where the mixup was. When I flashed DCD's ROM, the banner read "CellSouth"; it read this EVEN AFTER INSTALLING THE USCC CARRIER CAB! Well, I Thought that the banner was all that needed corrected; when I checked EPST Security settings, I ASSuMEd that the settings were USCC... They're friggin' "CellSouth"! I corrected my settings to uscc.net and didn't think much of it since i'm in a non-EVDO area. I thought that the settings installed by the CAB were for EVDO, and that that was why my data services weren't working. Sorry, Gents! I WILL EDIT MY PREVIOUS POST ON THIS, AND I WILL ALSO NOTIFY DCD SO THAT HE CAN CORRECT THE "USCC CARRIER" CAB.

To Clarify, regarding the EPST Security Tab Settings:
Here are the security settings:
HDR AN AUTH User ID (HEX)= ESN@uscc.net
HDR AN AUTH Password (HEX)= ESN
PPP USER ID = MSID#@uscc.net
PPP Password = MSID#

Question Re: Uscc 6800 Gps, Custom Roms, Downgrading Guide

Not to confuse issues but I get EVDO icon and my settings don't have the @EVDO in them just @cs3g.com how does one confirm??

!!NOTE: SECTION BELOW EDITED!! (SEE POST #182 ON PG. 19)
However, IF YOU ARE IN AN EVDO AREA the addresses within the security section of EPST should be: "@EVDO.cs3g.com" as opposed to "@uscc.net".
i.e.
HDR AN AUTH User ID: your(HEX)ESN#@EVDO.cs3g.com
PPP User ID: yourMSID#@EVDO.cs3g.com[/quote]

Sorry mykleh, I'm the one that likely confused everyone! IF YOU ARE NOT EXPERIENCING ANY DATA CONNECTION PROBLEMS, THEN DISREGARD EDITING ANY EPST SECURITY TAB SETTINGS. Just let them "be".

However, if you have:
1- Installed a USCC carrier cab after flashing (such as required by some ROMs like DCD's),
or
2- If you have flashed a cooked ROM in which the USCC Carrier info was included/selectable (i.e. PPCKitchen)
and
3- As a result of either of the above are experiencing data connection problems
then
4- Your EPST Security Tab Settings may be wrong, and you can change them by entering EPST edit mode, and setting the Security Tab info as described in previous posts (i.e. #182).

**NOTE THAT: IF YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE ANY CHANGES IN EPST, YOU SHOULD SOMEHOW COPY THE ORIGINAL SETTINGS SO THAT YOU CAN INPUT THEM LATER IF ANYTHING SHOULD GO WRONG!**

Re: Uscc 6800 Gps, Custom Roms, Downgrading Guide

To all the guys that have upgraded from a stock USCC phone... would anybody be available later this week to chat if I have a problem? I have been reading a lot, but want to make sure this goes smooth and that I have not forgotten anything...

Thanks

Yea I am if you want to ask ?'s Just PM me through the forum.

I Just updated to the 20273 ROM after trying DCD's Rom. DCD's ROM's are good but I did not like how they were Pre-setup.

Any way just been running the 20273 just for 1 day so far and it seems to work allot better than the 5067 that I was just running before.

I also am running radio 3.42.50.

Re: Uscc 6800 Gps, Custom Roms, Downgrading Guide

The big thing was that for some reason I lost the ability to send files to my phone via bluetooth or infrared with the 5067.

So after a week of trying the 5067 thinking it was the apps I put on the phone I did a blank 5067 flash and still no receive function that is when I went to DCD's ROM.

And it worked again. So I tried DCD's rom for a few days but didn't really care for it.

So here I am with the 20273 flashed to it and it is wonderful.
