Yes i read that in several threads about it not being safe after i got stuck in the locked bootloader, but i did find a way out of it and now have a system set that i can go back to the stock radio just fine and back up!

i have done it to 5 of these just fine and never once had to have the phone replaced

downgrading is a good idea for the following reasons,
#1 in case of warrenty work
#2 in case USCC releases an offical rom with GPS enabled
#3 in case you want to go back to the stock settings taking out GPS and getting all the OE files and programs back
#4 to start over incase you let the sprint customizations run that change everything on your phone even how you access certain features like the ##000000 and so on. its easier to go back than it is to fix a ton of differences

and im sure there are other reasons that im not thinking of.

Im making this guide to hopefully help some USCC people with this phone since it took me a few solid days to track down the information and try out different things as well as some of my own and get them to work right the first time! and over the course of this i had to downgrade my phone several times to start over!

any other questions? because i feel like your making a statment that it cant be done when it can be done for i have done it. and im sure others have as well, its just not all assembled into and easy to use blueprint (guide)
This Down Grade Guide would be very helpful now.......

For some reason after I got done with everything All the stock stuff works great................BUT any thing NOT stock gives me an error that the .exe file is either bad or unsigned or untrusted and will not start after I install it.\

Any Ideas?.....

I retried the steps and the RUU will not let me re-upgrade this radio.

Kinda Clueless on what to do next.....

To reassure that I am not stuck on Bootloader or a bricked phone. Build os does what it needs to if I run it. Just a bricked head from trying to figure this out.

Place phone in diagnostic mode by pushing Send, ##DIAG, and Send again.
Use QPST v2.7 in Service Progamming client.
Read Phone and look in Display tab.
Change Banner from cellsouth to US Cellular.
Write to Phone.

Setup items.
Driver for QPST, Windows XP.
http://www.vzam.net/uploadedfiles/WM...rInstaller.exe
QPST Configuration,
Click Ports tab and Click Add New Port.
Choose COM? USB/QC Data Modem from the list and Click OK to add.

This fixed my phone, it says US Cellular after a soft reset and *228.
Thanks to maverick351ci, for getting this party started for us.
ok, I cant get this to work for me. I'm not exactly sure what order to go with these steps.

I installed the QPST program.
Then installed the WModemDriverInstaller
But when I go to the QPST Config, I dont see the USB/QC Data Modem from the list to add a port.

Do I have to add the port before going to the Service Programming?

edit:
never mind. I finally figured it out.

I could never get the QPST to work either until I did this upgrade and while there went under the banner and changed it to US Cellular from Cell South...
