changing background transparency on today screen?

so i wanna put a picture on the today screen, but its always like 50% opacity for transparency. i remembered LONG time ago when i first got the phone i tried to change the background, i had an option to make it transparent or not and the percentage, but now i have no idea how i accessed it.

to change the backgroudn i just go to start->settings->today and click the use this picture as my background box and browse my way to the picture.

using dcd 3.0.1's rom.


ALSO: can i change it so that the start menu wont be the background, but its own screen? with the background there i cannot see any of the names on the list on the start menu.

instead go to pic/vids and find the picture you want, then click and hold and in the menu that pops up, click set as background image. a screen will come up that you can move around the selected area to show on the screen and you can also change the transparency.

If you go into Settings, Today, Appearance. Down at the bottom is a check box that says use this picture as backround. Once you click the box the Browse box will show. Find your image and it will ask you transparency.

the font colors on the today screens are white and sometimes its hard to see, can i change that to another color?

can i also change the background for JUST the start screen separately so that its not the same as the background?
