@ OP - there's too many reasons, most which have been covered already, some of which haven't, in regards to why install a custom ROM or cook one from a Kitchen. Of course it's not for everyone. In the end, the only one that can make the decision on whether or not it's worth it, is you !!!

if you use no2chem's kitchen, and installed the nuetools, you can goto start -> programs -> nuetools -> nuethreadedSMScontrol -> Disable
