Mogul Memory with New rom, Stock Sprint

How is the program memory ? is it stable ? did they fix the memory leak?

My biggies issue with xv6800 is the memory leak. and I was wondering if sprint fixed this issue, and if they did what do most people average for memory free?

I have been holding off installing the new rom on my xv6800 , and or waiting for verizon to even mention that they have been working on a rom update and radio update.

Re: Mogul Memory with New rom, Stock Sprint

To be perfectly honest, the memory leak hasn't seemed to be a problem with the OS, itself, for a while now. It's the third-party apps that leak so badly. If I don't run anything else, my phone holds pretty steady for a while.

Your best bet is to install something like Oxios and clear the memory yourself every once in a while. This keeps me with more than enough memory to run well for days at a time before needing to soft-reset.

Re: Mogul Memory with New rom, Stock Sprint

Keep in mind some of the garbage the carriers auto-install has caused some of the problems, and I believe HTC Home, itself, has been known to be one of the culprits.

All I can say is since using the 6.1 ROMs this hasn't been as much of a problem for me. When I close applications, most of the time their RAM clears up almost fully, and running Oxios once or twice a day, depending on what I've been using, is enough.

Re: Mogul Memory with New rom, Stock Sprint

Heres a really stupid question. I'm running nochems newest 6.1 rom. To make sure that closing programs makes them close, do I install X button to close, do I just go into task manager every time and close it manually, or am I doing something wrong?

When I was running no2chem's 6.1 rom I installed X button. It makes it much quicker and easier to manage/close running applications.

Re: Mogul Memory with New rom, Stock Sprint

Fwiw I currently think the ROM (really actually the apps within the ROM, but maybe something in the ROM) affects the memory pattern.

I'm running WM6.1, using RdZ's ROM (based off No2Chem) and it's got surprisingly good memory for me. Been about a week, and it's at least 15k free all the time, often 20k, and I'm running SPB MobileShell which is a pretty rich app. I do run Oxios, but it only frees like 1-2k max. Not gonna make or break with that.

With another ROM, maybe a past version, I found memory leaked down to 5k or less very often, with no clear idea why.

I wonder though, what symptoms make this a problem for you? I ask with due respect, since once I could see the numbers I became all too obsessed with them. But they don't mean as much as whether your phone does what you want it to do.

I surf the web a lot, using non-pocket format, which I think hogs memory. The RdZ ROM handles it really well, but the other ROM didn't, PIE would close frequently, taking other things down with it. Maybe I'm not the norm in the way I use it though.
