For some reason this problem occurs if the clock is in the top bar (at least in my experience). If you remove it so that only the battery is in the top bar, or nothing at all, this error doesn't occur. HTC Home by default removes the clock, and this fixes the problem.
Here are the registry setting options:

Restore/Remove clock on top bar

[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\]
"ShowTitleBarClock"=1 (enable)
"ShowTitleBarClock"=0 (disable)

Show Time,Date,both or Battery on top bar at Today screen

[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\]
Time:
"ShowTitleBarClock"=1 / "TBOpt"=1
Date:
"ShowTitleBarClock"=1 / "TBOpt"=2
Both:
"ShowTitleBarClock"=1 / "TBOpt"=3
Nothing:
"ShowTitleBarClock"=1 / "TBOpt"=0
Battery:
"ShowTitleBarClock"=0 / "TBOpt"=1

You may have to add TBOpt dword value if it doesn't exist. These settings won't take effect until a soft reset.

I got those registry settings from stroths.

Cool...and just for sanity's sake, you have soft reset since with no problem?

And apart from Colonel's registry hack, is it wasy to disable the today plugin??

I reall miss WeatherPanel....

I believe this was disabled because it caused problems with the game Kevtris for some reason. You can edit the smartskey config if you want it enabled.

Do you have any of your own OEMs that you are installing? If so, try building without them and see if you get the error.

If not, please join the chat room by clicking the link my my signature.

Sigh....no luck....

I'm such a noob sometimes...the today plugins are just managed from settings/today/items....

But, just disabling the pilot doesn't help. (I even cooked the registry hack into a ROM, but it looks like that just does the same thing as checking the items screen...) I have to disable weatherpanel proper to get past a soft reset. Which, of course, takes it off of my today screen. But I guess at least that's better than removing the program altogether.

Now lets start a pool to see the first time I forget to disable the WP plugin prior to soft reset and I'll be forced into a hard reset......

(Oh yeah, I did try disable/soft reset/enable/soft reset, and it still gets hung).....

Re: Titan Kitchen CE OS 5.2.19209 (Build 19209.1.0.2) aka 5060

First off thanks for the great work. I am trying to plow my way through this.

My first question is how can I have locations pre set in weather panel? I am using no2chem's 5060 and I noticed that weather panel has Shawnee, KS pre set in it. I want to change this to my default cities.

There are a few options for you.

First, if you dont flash that much, it is the easiest to just change the settings after the phone boots. I don't know who could have set the default as Shawnee, KS.

Now, if you think you will build and flash a bit, you can change the registry entries. This is done easily with a personal OEM in the User_OEM folder. You can use OEMizer to create this OEM. Once you use OEMizer or have an .rgu to edit, you will need the following regs:

Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MarsWare\WeatherPanel]

and all the entries that go with it
You can get these by setting up weather panel like you want it and then dumping the registry with a registry editor. You will then have all the settings you need.

You can always join the chat if you need help with this.

Re: Titan Kitchen CE OS 5.2.19209 (Build 19209.1.0.2) aka 5060

Just letting you guys know.. Thanks to Nickles I've added a fix for hardware keyboard that will be in next 5060 update. It seems to clear up the repeat keypress issue some people were having and also works with today search plugin (not sure if that was an issue anymore since i don't use the plugin).

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=21700

Summary: Broken keys = HTC Touch Keyboard. Repeating keys = Keyboard Fix Cab. Both fixed for next update.
