Remove Sprint Spyware/software

I have Total Commander as well as utilized MSL generator to get my MSL. Is there a guide to removing the Sprint install software like the 6700 had? I did a query and was unable to locate what steps to take to open my rom and then remove the selected programs? I would like to remove as much of the Sprint software as possible. I was misled by the Sprint employee who told me that Telenav was free with the Mogul, but I believe it is a trial version. Anyways, how do I get started clearing out space for all the cool, FREE apps?!

Re: Remove Sprint Spyware/software

1) Telenav as a service is either part of your Sprint Vision data package or it is not. The software is part of the 3.35 firmware, and therefore is "free" from that point of view.

2) As for the Sprint software, many of the customizations are not needed. You can avoid them by doing a hard reset and skipping the customizations during Windows Mobile setup (just hit the reset button when the prompt appears with a 3 second countdown).

Alternatively, you can use nueExtROM to unlock the Extended ROM and delete/replace the contents for future hard resets.

That said, you need to keep the Sprint_IOTA.cab tool.

Hope this helps.

Re: Remove Sprint Spyware/software

Thanks for the response. I have the Sero plan, so I don't think it is included in that plan. just the same I'll try Live or Google Maps. So if I do a hard reset and then when prompted soft reset before the 3 second count down that should alleviate the install of Sprint's crapware. Will this install the Sprint IOTA cab or do i manually install that?

Re: Remove Sprint Spyware/software

Gotcha, Just so I'm clear Hard reset and then soft reset when 3 seconds prompt to negate the install of Sprintware. Then I will have to install the iota cab. Any particular location it needs to be installed?

Re: Remove Sprint Spyware/software

If you cancel the customizations, yes, you will need to manually install the IOTA tool via CAB (it's linked in my post above if you need a copy).

Also, I'm a big fan of Google Maps, but I definitely like Windows Live Search better, because of the movie listings and gas prices.

Re: Remove Sprint Spyware/software

I followed the instructions, hit reset during the three-second period, and reinstalled IOTA, and the phone works fine as before. Except...

Now it does not "see" the storage card. Neither File Explorer nor Virtual Explorer show the storage card any more. This is true of both the 8GB card I am using and the 512MB card that came with the Mogul. My computer can see both cards; they are error free. I reformatted the 512MB card and it is still invisible. What could be going on here?

I really don't want to do another hard reset--it's a time-consuming pain in the ***.
