Possible HLR problem, need some input

I hate being partially educated but I think I may be onto a problem some folks are having after upgrading (myself included) of not being able to get a cell signal or getting one after an inordinate amount of time searching.

Long story short, I lost ability to use the new America's Choice II PRL's on VZ after goofily updating the roaming by *228 option 2 after upgrading. I'm able to fix it by using an older PRL (America's Choice 1 w/o nationwide roaming).

After digging, I found that the HLR (home location register) on some Sprint phones needed to be reset if phone calls couldn't be made while roaming. This has to be done on the providers side.

Question is, could I screw anything up by calling VZW and asking them to reset the HLR?

My phone is working perfectly but I'm on an old PRL and I don't want to brick the cell radio by mistake...

Thanks in advance to anyone with knowlege of the HLR system.
