Let custom ROM "customize" after hard reset if I'm already on Sprint 3.35?

Hi all - thanks so much for all the work that's gone into this stuff. I've searched, but can't find this answer.

I know (from bitter experience) that it's a mortal sin to allow the Sprint customizations to run when upgrading a Verizon phone to Sprint 3.35. My question is after I flash a custom ROM (such as no2chem's kitchen), should I allow the "customization" to happen or would that bring me back to Sprint purgatory?

Thanks,

Gerry

Re: Let custom ROM "customize" after hard reset if I'm already on Sprint 3.35?

Hey rhahhah - I recognize you for another thread. Actually, I let it all run the first time like an idiot and then follow the un-Sprinting instructions left by some good soul and was able to get totally un-Sprinted, even to the point of "Verizon Wireless" reappearing next to the phone, etc.

I'm just wondering if when I run a custom ROM I should let it go through and do big, important, custom-ROM things or whether it will re-Sprint me.

Thanks for the reply - hopefully somebody can weigh in.

- Gerry

i just did some research, you might be able to get away with this:
reflash the phone with the original verizon rom and what not... just check out this link

Oh, definitely - if you're still having that problem, follow the link in there to the xda-developers page and you can completely un-Sprint your phone. My question is about letting another custom rom run its customizations after the phone has been upgraded to 3.35 with the Sprint ROM.

Anybody?

Thanks,

Gerry

OK, I just said heck with it and let the customizations run after flashing a ROM I made from no2chem's 6.1 kitchen. Did a brief thing and restarted - definitely no Sprint-assimilation going on. So, brethren, allow customization without prejudice.

Re: Let custom ROM "customize" after hard reset if I'm already on Sprint 3.35?

I asked that very question up in the No2Chem novella...er, I mean thread.

The response I got was that it was only there in that ROM to facilitate UC. If you didn't set up the UC files on your SD card, then it did nothing. But I believe that somebody disagreed with that....

I did let it run after loading No2Chem 5048. Phone worked fine after getting another A-key, but there's still lots of stray "Sprint" references in things like the 'connecting' bubble. And all over the registry.....
