5054 is fine for me; but don't discount 5059's value simply because it is not what is in the default kitchen.
5059 Obviously has some value in the new kitchen; or No2Chem wouldn't have produced the basekit.

There may be a lot of changes, but the question is what is the impact of those changes? The answer is, if you have trouble with 5059 and are in a pinch, 5054 isn't that different. That was his point. Of course 5059 has value, and it'll make it's way onto the official distribution list soon enough.
Furthermore, I'm not sure you realize that the official 5054 and the basekit 5054 are not the same thing. Some of the many changes you are referring to may in fact be in the official 5054.
