Did that issue come up with GPS on? If GPS was off, there is no reason it should be messing with any power settings. It doesn't even mess with them when GPS is on anymore, so I have no idea on that one. I would need some more details (preferably hands on time, which isn't going to happen right now because I don't have spare money for a Touch) to figure out what's going on.
