Battery life sucks here too

I have 2chem's latest rom / lennys. The htc today screen plugin seems to be the problem for me. I have disabled it, and now my battery life is much better.

does anybody know how to get rid of the battery icon that came with lennys / no2chem rom?

I want to test my phone with that off, maybe thats a culprite too.

Re: 3.35 Battery Killer. More like slaughterer.

For me the HTC Today screen seemed to be a battery hog and I think I narrowed it was the weather panel. Once I disabled weather, the battery life didn't drop as fast. .. not exactly sure why.

But since I live in S. California, it's not like I need to know the weather.

Re: 3.35 Battery Killer. More like slaughterer.

I did not have the fluctuations that others are noticing but I had noticed a huge change in battery performance after the radio update. I my house I get a really poor EV signal but a great 1X signal. After the update I, after a while, I noticed that I was getting a worse EV signal than before. Now if I lock the phone to the 1X network or turn off rev. A my battery lasts the same as before if not slightly better while at home. If I leave the house and go more towards downtown where I have a full EV signal I can have rev. A turned on and the battery lasts all day with no noticable performance change. I have tried multiple configurations as first noticed the problem after installing the new SPB Mobile Shell and I thought it was that, that was causing the issue. I also tried multiple times enabling and disabling the GPS and multitude of other things. For me it really seems to be the slight drop in the available signal is causing my phone to search for a signal too often.

Re: 3.35 Battery Killer. More like slaughterer.

Well, I don't know what to say, after testing the stock rom to confirm the battery was fine, I tried the dcd rom again, 3.0.1, and now 3.0.4 and I don't have the battery issue anymore. I am getting regular usage like I was before I noticed a problem, and the battery is not doing the fast drop after a call or using the evdo.

I am streaming sirus, doing rss updates, checking email and browsing the web without caring about the battery anymore and it seems to be holding up to regular use.

I have to think I had some runaway app that was corrupted, I have installed all the same things I normally use, but reverting to stock and upgrading again has seemed to remove the problem. Can't say fixed, since that would imply I knew what changed, just removed it.

Re: 3.35 Battery Killer. More like slaughterer.

damm i thought it was the htc home plug in that was causing my problems.

I had a full charge at about 7:00 pm tonight, no bluetooth, no wifi. I happaned to soft reset it right before leaving my house. 45 minutes later my phone was at 60% with no useage, no phone calls , no nuttin.

1:49am this morning as i got home, 6% battery.

WTF....

Going back to no2chems rom.

Ditching no2chem/lennys rom.

Some this is waaaaay flucked up.

Re: 3.35 Battery Killer. More like slaughterer.

At least now people agree the problem isn't just perceived.
I've kind of gotten use to the whole thing. I have chargers everywhere just in case.
I don't have the energy(or balls) to try reverting back to stock radios/roms.

On a side note, has anyone noticed how hard it is to find a car charger for the 6800 without actually ordering it? I've been to three Verizon stores and for some genius reason, none of them carry a charger for their flagship phone. They look in the isle, then look in the back, then say they could order it for me if I want. No $hit. I can order it too, dunce. You want us to spend hundreds of dollars on a phone, and you don't carry support equipment for it? Yet all the crappy piss-free phones have chargers, cases, clips, and other bs in spades.
And there's no way I'm going to Target or Best Buy (which also sells this phone) to buy some generic charger which only lists the Blackberry as a compatible device, just because it fits.
That's like phone rape.

Re: 3.35 Battery Killer. More like slaughterer.

Just buy a car charger for a razr. It uses the same plug. Just make sure you use the htc charger for home use. The only real difference is the model listed in the packaging.

Exclamation Re: 3.35 Battery Killer. More like slaughterer.

Hey everyone happy Modding,
Just wanted to say that I was a die-hard mobile shell 2.0 fan until recently
when I found quick menu. Anyways I ditched mobile shell 2.0 and gained about 3 times the batterey life ( or more!, seriously) than I had before. Don't think I'll go back. Its a shame, I even bought it and everything. I guess ill just hope for a batterey fix in 2.1. Till then, love this quick menu!! And I love my battery life! I've been using it all day (with data, wi-fi and Ev-do) and even in places with bad service. I took it off the charger at 8:30 and its 10:30 now and I''m sitting with 70% still. which my previous rom build would have been dead and I would already have had it on the charger since I had got home (7:00). I think this is the best battery life I have got since I bought it! WOOT. Thanks everyone at PPCGEEKS and the Contributors of PPCkitchen. I'm a programmer myself and you all are like my heroes now ( I consider this as one of the best Phone modding programs in existence.) Sorry to spb love your software but its a memory and power hogg...... Later
