help a n00b upgrade his XV6800

I want to update the ROM on the XV6800 as the stock one is complete garbage, and I am not going to hold my breath for verizon to upgrade it. I have tried reading some threads about flashing, but honestly I still dont understand the concepts of the unlockers & relockers.

From xda I found dcd's 3.0.0 rom and its an .exe. Since my phone is running the completly stock ROM, can I just run the .exe from my computer and will it install it's self? Or I'm guessing its more complicated then that. I noticed that the exe on xda is only 38 mb where as the sprint one was 60 mb, so there has to be a missing data there....

Sorry if this has been covered before, but can anyone tell me how to do this coming from a completly stock ROM?

Thanks for your help,

Tom

Re: help a n00b upgrade his XV6800

Well to be a little more technical. I just got my xv6800 a few weeks ago. I had a palm treo so I know the WM platform well. But have never flashed a phone I am going to be using the search function alot. But want to know what is the best rom used for verizon customers. I konw there are alot of different rom's out there. Also, which one is the most stable, with least amount of drawbacks.

Thanks
