Is it possible to run WM5 w/ GPS and Rev A?

I have recently been using the nueROM v2.0 5050, but have read a lot of threads with people stating they boot with 30mb free on WM5. I think this sounds great, but am wondering if switching to WM5 means giving up the GPS and Rev A. Thanks in advance for your help with this question.

I don't think so, because most devices running WM 5 don't have the same chipset as devices like the Mogule, Touch etc.

i think it's possible, but it's not a very easy switch. i'm pretty sure the capability to use GPS or Rev A only relies on the Radio, not necessarily the ROM. i'm sure someone will try and develop a WM5 ROM that uses the Radio that supports GPS and Rev A.

I actually have a Mogul and noticed the WM5 roms out there for it. That's what got me wondering. I am aware of the drawback with WM5 not recognizing SDHC, but that would be a sacrifice I'd be willing to make for more speed and ram availability. However, if you couple that with no GPS and no Rev A, then the decision becomes a bit more difficult. Thanks for the responses so far.

Re: Is it possible to run WM5 w/ GPS and Rev A?

The Mogul was designed for WM5 which is why it only has 64mb of RAM. By the time it came out, WM6 was here so they put WM6 on it prior to release. Telus got the 6800 first (p4000) and it had WM5 on it. They later released a WM6 upgrade. The ROMs you see out there are from the carriers that released the 6800 with WM5.

On a side note, the Touch was always intended to have WM6 which is why it has double the RAM.

While its probably possible to put the drivers into WM5, its hard to say if anyone will do it. Another hurdle may be the boot loader. You currently need the newer 2.40 boot loader to run the 3.x radio. However, this combo doesn't work with a standard 2.x base ROM. I have a feeling WM5 would have the same issue. Perhaps the release version of the radio rom will not have this issue.

My concern exactly but if the new (10 Mar 0 rom is still a pig, I plan to use Sampson's wm5 and try to get it to work with all of the new drivers. I don't see any reason it won't work. Just a lot of time spent testing different combinations. The phone was designed for WM5 as was stated earlier but, If the new rom is able to reapportion the internal memory then my issue with WM6 goes away. Unfortunately, I don't think that is going to be possible.
