Better Camera for the Titans... Camera_5_07_28987 Now in a Cab File
 

i seen a few people saying that the Camera_5_07_28987 (vouge) was better than the Camera_4_05_29446 (titan original). this version is included in dcd's kitchens, but was never made into a cab file.

One reason why it may never have been made into a cab file is because a cab file can not replace files in the rom. although there there still is a way to get it on to the device with out a kitchen.

here is what you need to do...

1. download and install the Camera_5_07_28987 cab file (link below).
2. download and install resco explorer or total commander as well (link below).
3. move the files from Program files/Camera_Temp to the Windows folder.
4. softreset.

the first thing you need to do is make sure either resco or totalcommander is set to show all files. normally these apps want to hide ROM files (dlls, ect).

i will give example using resco...

1. open resco explorer and go to Program Files/Camera_Temp
2. go to menu/file/options and tap the "browser" tab.
3. select "show all files"
4. hit done

now you should see all the files

5. hit Meun/edit/select all
6. using your stylus tap and hold in the center of the screen for a popup.
7. select "move to..."
8. select "Windows"
9. select "overwrite all".

now a warning message will popup a few hundred times asking you if you are sure you want to overwirte. just keep saying yes.

soft reset and your done.

the reason i don't include this is because there is no flash, people tend to complain about it missing.

i got a pm from a guy asking if there was a camera hack for the titan that enabled a better camera quality. then i saw this thread.

i dont use the camera much i just like helping people. since i paid $80 for a cab program and know how to use it i figured i would cab it up for everyone.

yes the flash doesn't work on this version, but how well does the flash work in the first place. most of the pics that i take don't require a flash anyhow.

what i will do this weekend is take some pictures of the same things in the same lighting using both versions. i will post them up for people to see the difference.

The effort is certainly appreciated.

So far the pictures appear to be of better quality, although that may be the placebo effect. For the flash solution I just have the flashlight app bound to <hold button 5> - serves well as a light as well as a flash.

I am quite interested to see the comparison pictures from the 2 apps.

good point. how are we gonna take pics in the dark without the hi-beam? lol. but cody, i do give you an A for effort though. can't take anything away from you for trying, but if there's an update with flash for this file, that would also be a great idea.

pictures removed....

i realized last night that i never did the softreset after moving the files over. this softreset would be needed because there were ove 360 regedits in the cab as well as the files. a softreset is needed to have them set.

i will be replacing my pictures tonight when i get to my pc.

this is what i was thinking. i didn't know the little bulb on the back was for the camera. i always thought it was just a flashlight. lol.

this wont be a MUST HAVE APP. it will only help those who wanted it, get it without having to learn how to cook ROM's. that's all i was shooting for, trying to help the community. lol. ](*,)

I use Nilisco that I found over at PDAPhone.com. It comes equipped with (2) modes basically... full on and 30 sec timed.

I'm using DCD's titan kitchen and have a VJ Candela OEM that I cooked into the rom just for this problem. And I use it as a flashlight.

I'm not sure if i'll get to it this weekend, but I use qipit http://www.qipit.com to send faxes. its free, but I have to use my 6700 because it has the focus for close up, even though the 6800 has 2mp.
This would be a good test to check quality.

I wonder if it's the quality difference is just the electronic equivalent of shutter speed. I find my Mogul takes pictures as adequately as my old 2 MP camera, but I have to have very steady hands with the mogul. From the Justus pics posted, it almost looks like the Vogue camera has something along the lines of a quicker image capture, resulting in better picture quality for slightly unsteady hands (which is pretty much everybody, including myself). I haven't used this myself, this is just based on observation.

C'mon Cody, we love ya regardless of the efforts you manage to pull out so far. it's a good app that makes prettier pictures, but I'll give this one a second chance thanks to the addition of Nilisco flashlight.

Can the Mogul use the Tilts 3MP camera..?? I was searching an seen the Tilt/TyTNII camera was gettin some nice reviews, but its 3mp so does that mean it won't work on Moguls since were only 2mp..??

I have tried this camera and it works great. I tried the flashlight trick, this was weeks ago when i first installed this, and it didnt work. It shut off the light right before the picture. It is a MUCH better camera though, with some better features. Also, DONT move the files to the windows folder, that will replace the original camera and the ability to create flash pictures. Move the files to a folder and create a shortcut to the camera app, so you can run both cameras.

The 3 megapixel one does not work - you hear the shutter then it throws up an error about it not receiving input. Figured it was worth a try - thanks!

damn, thanks for hittin me back on that i was about to go give it a whirl an pray it didnt fry my cams reg files or anything lol...
