Re: What GPS software do you use?

Here's my review of Mio 3.3 (iGo) on th xv6800:

Pros:
Menus and interface are very nice looking and highly custimizable / skinnable. You can literally change just about anything - buttons, menus, even what functions are visible on the nav screen. Overall it's a nicely polished app.

Rich POI database with a very intuitive, predictive, interface.

Maps are accurate in my area and include roads built within the last year.

The ****pit view provides just the right amount of info and tilts the 3D view based on speed and distance to the next turn.

GPS fires right up when using AstroLauncher.

Cons:
TTS is nice, but the word choices are poor. For example, it alway says "Prepare to" before most commands. At 35mph and higher, those extra words make a big difference when a turn is 500ft away. Other nav units I have used just say "turn right in 500 ft". I think the voice files can be edited to shorten the commands.

It doesn't tell you what side of the street the destination is on. I have seen cheap $120 units with Intellinav 1 that say "destination on the right". That is really helpful in unfamiliar areas.

I am probably missing something, but I can't figure out how to "Add this location to Favorites or POI". I know how to look something up and add it, but not my current location. With other software I like to park someplace and add it to favorites so I have nice accurate directions.

On my 6800 route recalculation is a bit slow (nothing else running). If the recalculation requires a turn in 500 feet, it will say "Turn left ont- route recalculation" as I am driving through the intersection. This could be a hardware deficiency.

Other:
I can't comment on accuracy because I don't know if it is the software or the gps. Mine seems to be just a few car lengths behind - this can cause issues in complex routes. Instructions are sometimes too late and I find myself driving more conservatively when being guided by TTS.

Summary
Great looking app, but until it can tell me what side of the road the destination is on, I would rather use something else.
