What am I missing?

Starting with a virgin phone:

I am attempting to load a new ROM "noChem2's most recent"

I have read and followed all the dummy guides and there is something that is not working for me.

I run the unlocker "spl-2.40.Olipro" at that point I can not initiate an Activesync connection..

1.Do I run the exitbl.exe? If I do that I can not load anything with RUU, it goes to load, sits at 0% and tells me it faild and I need to recover..
2. Do I run the RUU? If I do that it tells me it can not find my phone
3.Do I continue to roll on the floor and throw fits?

I am sitting here waiting for a respone, hoping somebody is paying attention. Please help
