ok my female friend hotboy...open up the program(phm edit), and navigate through these folders:

HKey Local Machine -> Comm -> Tcpip -> Parms

There is a "key" in there called Timerwheelsize and its default value should be 11. You need to click on this key, and change the value to 5. I am not sure how you do it in your specific program, but i cant imagine it is too hard.
When you are done with that you can close the program.

Then, you want to do this from your regular home screen.
Go to Start, click Settings, hit the connections tab at the bottom, click Connections, then hit Manage existing connections. you will edit the one named Sprint PCS most likely. So click it and then select edit. Click next, then next again. When you see "Advanced" click that. At the bottom you will see "Servers", so click that. Then select "use specific server address" and put in this:
DNS: 4.2.2.1
Alt DNS: 4.2.2.2

I hope that clarified anything you didnt understand.

Well I just did a bunch of tests with the standard and the manual dns numbers. 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2
More or less all of the tests came out to be the same.
I am running the latest No2Chem's Rom.
In fact the standard Sprint connection
was more consistent than the manual DNS.
Sprint around 1800 while the manual DNS 1500-1900 but varied quite a bit.

Does anyone have any experience with the speed of the other DNS Servers listed in one of the first posts.

Yeah essentially it means a better DNS server could improve web browsing speed, but nothing else Internet related.

Think of it this way. I have 2 neighbors (Bob and Joe) and I ask each of them for directions to the store. Bob answers my question in 1 second. Joe takes 2 minutes to answer the same question.

Neither's answer speeds up my car's engine to get to the store. However, Bob's faster response let me leave earlier.

Please excuse my ignorance, but my Mogul is on Bell. Would I use the same DNS server settings as Sprint??????

I dont think so, but some reassurance would be nice.

awesome find, increased my upload to 300+ didn't do much for my download, but latency with the off sprint dns servers is completely minimized! thanks Mike!

You can use whatever DNS servers you want. The suggested 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 are Verizon's but anyone can use them (regardless of carrier/ISP).

As for people having issues with the dns setting stick after a soft reset.. Listen up. Make sure after you set them do a software soft reset. Use psshutxp or wktask. What ever you wish. After that if you do a sylus soft reset the settings should stick. HTC Guardian is not in the new rom as far as I can find. I am using no2chems 5055 which I have internmittant BT issues turning off on its own but besides that the dns sticks @ 4.2.2.1 with no problems. Hope this helps.

I did this with opendns awhile ago for my Sprint Touch. I noticed a speed increase but had to set it back because SprintTv wouldnt work :(

If you don't feel like doing a soft reset and the other things suggested, simply add a new connection and make that your default. That's what I've done. Works great!

I also get slower speed than before.. download of about 400kb... but upload about 200kb... (faster upload than before).. I have been looking through the forum, but seems like there is no solution for this..

when i get to the server page to change the dns i also have the option for puting in WIN and lt WIN
they are currently all 0's and do not change when i enter th new DNS
am i supposed o leave them blank

connect your phone to your pc, use WinRAR to open the parms.zip, and select the exe. doing this from memory, but it should say something like would you like to import this, and select yes. your not putting any file on your phone so no folder, and the exe does the reg edits for you.

my bad, it is a reg file, just double click it and it will open up and prompt you. just click yes. i also double checked the settings using Mobile Registry Editor and it inputs everything correctly, in case you were wondering(:

also sprintv works for me w/ the new dns settings
