Anyone have this MMS issue?

I know there are a few different MMS issues going around, so I thought I'd create a thread for my unique issue.

I'm using DCD's 2.2.1 rom, rebuilt to add the cricket OEM for carrier settings. This is the only change I've made.

When I get an MMS message, my phone gets the announcement, connects to the web to download the message, and after a second or two the "downloading mms message" icon just disappears. If it's set for autodisconnect, it also disconnects the data connection. Occasionally (about 1 out of 6 times) I'll get an error that simply says "cannot receive message. Try again later"...

Anyone had this issue? anyone have any idea what it might be? It has the feel of a timeout setting being wrong, but I doubt that's it.

FYI, all my server settings, my evdo settings, and my pst settings are correct. I've manually verified that everything is set up correctly.

Also FYI, this issue isn't confined to the latest DCD rom, it's happened with every GPS rom I've used.

any help/advice?

Smile Re: Anyone have this MMS issue?

Ok well this worked for me!! I just merged arcsoft.Reg (Working) with my reg on my phone. then deleted a couple for strings that showed up the error log of the mms (/mydocuments/uacontents/mmslog) on the phone . Don't know if that helped but they obviously weren't in the working registry.

FYI: at first nothng seemed change thought it didn't work. so forgot about it. Tried the next day it's working now!!!

Re: Anyone have this MMS issue?

Well I don't know if there is a better fix for this, But Nobody is talking.

I just did my first soft reset and it back to the same old thing. I'm assumeing that something was rewritten i'm gonna try the merg again.

I know it's like using a hammer to fix it. But i don't know what or where the problem is in the reg. It's not that Big. But the dump "I" get only gives the dword hex value? In most strings So being so new to wm or it fact registry editing. I get frustrated! I just dump & merg or export & import ,ect.

In short from a known working phone I dump the reg string and save to the sd, or phone & copy to pc. Flash the new Rom or just copy to the problem phone and import it. I use dotfredreg to edit the registry I hope this helps someone.

So if there IS a better fix Plz let me Know and i'll let you Know if the second import works

Re: Anyone have this MMS issue?

MAN its nice to see somebody talkin about this MMS thing.
< Rant>
Pardon me while I RANT for a sec....
How come the Piece-Of-S%&T Alltel stock rom is the ONLY Rom that allows Picture Text msgs????? All these smart guys buildin ROMS & Kitchens & utilities & NOBODY can get that Stupid feature workin???????
< /Rant>
So....I guess I'll fiddle in the Reg & see if I can find the places you're describin, capture the keys, and incorporate them in a SMART, LEAN, CUSTOMIZED-TO-MY-NEEDS Rom.

Thanks for the tips Ken....I'll report back even if its only to bump this .

Re: Anyone have this MMS issue?

I had Schwartz World Rom mms working it's a good Custom rom Just no gps yet? Haven't looked. Look for bell mobile or alltel or sprint "older" , based custom roms should work
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=413376

Back to the point at hand:

Ok well still not working!! It worked i have the proof!! LOL Well i guess it's not that funny

I restored my Registry back to where is was at install of rom

but "DID NOT" reInstall the arcsoft VZW 5.0.70.24 Only one that installed right.

Did the import. Checked the settings "i know" to make all the others work.

Oh Ya
"After the import. In Messaging, mms options there is some crap it the gateway address clear it. forgot that the first time around " <= This is where I should have known something was wrong

Still i have the same "time out" issuse
I'm going to try a reflash. So i have a for sure clean reg
install arcsoft mms , edit registry so everything else is working
Import the working reg of the old rom as for metioned and attached

See if All that worked !!.
If so, i'll dump the reg take some time to pull it apart find the differences

And I'll post the links to the rom and arcsoft and instrutions to what i'm using "omj rom" working gps
If you want to tinker with what i have PM me and i'll put it all together and ge you the link

Still asking For HELP Thanks Jazaddict for your reply

Re: Anyone have this MMS issue?

Not that this is any help but, I tried GC14 Alltel AND VZW (hey, why not?). I got the VZW to work once (My phone temporarily thinks its a sprint phone ) The ALltel version SAYS it has the pic, but it won't show.

In the process I broke my PPC Kitchen, tried to reload it, STILL won't work. I HATE it when my STUFF IS BROKEN!!!!!

I haven't had the will to dive into the damn Registry yet...I'm tryin to avoid it, but all the time I'm spendin flashin, reloadin, sendin, drummin fingers, Hard Reset, reload, Fuggit, flash somethin else OOPS, CANT CUZ THE KITCHEN IS BROKE!!!! etc....I might as well type out the whole registry in binary

Meantime...msg failed, msg failed, msg failed.....rinse, repeat....

Re: Anyone have this MMS issue?

[Disregard] Valid information but of no use in this Thread Sorry

Ok i think i'm on to something!? Or maybe just on SOMETHING!

Looking at the log files: On the phone/mydocuments/uacontents/mms log

There are files, but two of the files "send & recv " refer to for a *.dat file
Again:
Everything works on my phone Works but recv of pic mss downlods " in other words I CAN send and recv text, send mms pics sounds ect "

ok the dat file that "send" refers to is there. /phone/mydocuments/uacontents/mms ua but the dat file that "recv" refers to of corse is not.

Now just on recall this hone/mydocuments/uacontents/mms log settings are in the reg some where Maybe just maybe this is happening

somehow this placement or description or filter, is not allowing the file to download?

I'm betting alot on the fact it is in the registry because picture mms's DO NOT APPEAR from 1000 miles away on my phone OtherWise!!!!

My thoughts on what all the files are in phone/mydocuments/uacontents/mms log are:

first ones mm1_wsp*.* looks like this :
gateway port:8080
mmsc uri:http://mms.mycricket.com/servlets/mms
retrieve quickly:1
report allowed:1
max send size:1024000
max retrieve size:1024000
try count:1
send recv timeout:10000
lastack timeout:4000
wtp max retry:8
log file level:4
packet size:1024000
enable wap2:1

Looks like this working or not!!! 99.9% sure

I'de say that file was the request for this file : Recv maybe the other way around

But the Dat file never makes it to the folder

OK that enough for now !!

Re: Anyone have this MMS issue?

FYI: All of this is for CRICKET Wireless

Ok IT's working

Stupid Mistake the so called working acrsoft.reg IS NOT THE preimport reg. It was the reg from the phone when is was working? Differance? So why that didn't work i'm not sure. But here is the way it goes:
in this File is :
Arcsoft 5
arcsoft1st.reg
arcsoft2nd.reg

So install Arcsoft 5

import both arcsoft regs in order

Check your setting if you want ,but all should work!

If you have this download issue and your not cricket follow the same steps as i said, But then you will need to go back and change your reg back to your carrier!! I'm sure that you'll find the settings that make the non gps or older roms mms to work.

This only fixes the so called download issues on the new gps roms!!!

GOOD LUck!! Thanks again and again to jazaddict For At least He let me know that this wasn't just MY personal log!!!

Someone Should look at registrys to just find the problem. This is how it works the first reg import fixes the mms download issue that i can't find. the second reg import just puts all the right cricket info back in. I know you'll see cricket info in both but if don't do the import in the right order IT WON'T WORK!!

My Next post puts the rom, the fix, & more In a link For all . Next Page
Warning if you don't change the mdn "your phone number" in the reg it will make all your texts look like they came from me!!
