Re: Boring GPS ROM 3.16.651.0 for Alltel

I am having a similar issue. When my phone loads the bootloader, I loose my connection to the computer, and the sprint rom can't load. Anyone know how to remidy this?

1. Flash the original Alltel 3.35.671.9 ROM.
2. Connect to PC and copy TITAIMG.nbh from my ROM to a MicroSD and remove it from the phone. Or alternatively, use WinRAR to extract the original .exe file from step 1 and replace RUU_Signed.nbh with my TITAIMG.nbh file.
3. Install Hard-SPL 2.40 from Olipro Link
6. Reinsert MicroSD and hit RESET. TITAIMG.nbh will install. If it does not, hold POWER+CAMERA while pressing RESET, you will briefly see the tri-colored bootloader screen and it should load the ROM.
what if someone uses a cooked rom like ppckitchen? will the gps still work? is it in the radio or the OS?

Re: Boring GPS ROM 3.16.651.0 for Alltel

It's the OS. The GPS should still work in a cooked ROM if it worked before. The radio itself is GPS-ready, but there are 3 files missing from the ROM that enable GPS.

I suppose they could be cabbed. I'd test that theory myself, except I already flashed my phone and installed all my apps and don't feel like erasing everything just to test a theory. Anyone want to try a cab file to enable GPS in the stock Alltel ROM? I could make one pretty quick when I get home from work later in the day.

Then, I have a problem. I've tried to get the gps to work with no joy. I've tried your work, a kitchen. I've tried to move back to the sprint radio and no luck.

Is there something simple i've missed - my appologies for a noob comment.

Re: Boring GPS ROM 3.16.651.0 for Alltel

If my ROM flashed correctly, GPS should work. It took 10-minutes or so before mine started finding satellites.

In TomTom you should see the COM4 option show up, and in GoogleMaps when you choose Use GPS, it should start searching for satellites. It may take some time. For some reason, the first time I used mine, it took longer than it ever did with the Sprint ROM but it did eventually start working. With the stock ROM, there was no COM4 in TomTom and Google Maps would return an error saying something like "No GPS hardware found".

If you want to make a cab I am willing to give it a try i have flashed my phone so many times now trying things that it takes about 15 mins to fully restore it... I would be more then willing to flash back to stock and give a cab install a try

Here's the info for the cab:

Okay, here it is, the cab file that will hopefully enable GPS in the stock ROM.

http://rapidshare.com/files/10991132...Titan_3.35.cab

The files are signed with a developer certificate so you will need to turn security off before they'll work correctly. I found a file to do that here:
