does anyone know if this fixes the freezing problem on the phone after soft resets that some of us were facing.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question....

I've been using DCD's ROM's lately. He makes a version for each different carrier.

Are No2Chem's ROMS for 1 particular carrier, or do they work with any carrier?

Verizon... XV6800.

I tried searchign this thread for the answer, but its soo long now its difficult to find out...

It SEEMS like No2Chem is a Sprint user, so not sure if his rom is compatible with VZW or not.

im sure the rom is compatible with vzw, everything would probably just say sprint on it.
someone on this thread said they made a vzw version of this rom, so you might want to look into that.

remlle 02-11-2008 12:35 PM

CAn you look at doing this to your rom. woudl be sweet to have it automatically install the cabs I usually install please.

What is nueUpdate 0.1beta?

92GTA 02-11-2008 01:22 PM

No2Chem,

Has the full backup issue with SPB been resolved in 5045 with those 3 files I mentioned to you a few builds back? I noticed it wasn't in 5043 still...

nueUpdate 0.1beta - Is this being installed from the ExtROM so that it's user removable VIA the remove programs? I appreciate your apps because they are vanilla and while I understand this is an added feature, I feel it should be left up to the user to remove it or not.

RFinger 02-11-2008 01:28 PM

Does this ROM contain TouchFlo?

xweaponx 02-11-2008 01:31 PM

This rom does have the Sprint startup animation & Sprint PCS data connection bubble. However both can be remedy easily and do not impair your carrier-specific operations/functions from operating correctly if not changed...

To change the Sprint PCS data bubble follow these steps:

Go to Start-->Settings-->Connections-->Connections...

1. Click on "Manage Existing Connections".
2. Click on "Edit" to change the name of the Srint PCS #777 to your carrier.
3. Under "Enter a name for the connection", enter your carrier's name.
4. Click "Next"
5. Enter the number your carrier utilizes for data connection.
6. Click "Next"
7. Enter the values for "Username", Password", and Domain. For me, Username was (phone # @Alltel.com. Password was left blank and so was domain.
8. Click "Finish". Another dialog box should prompt you to save this connection. Again, save it as your carrier's name.

Now...

To disable/modify the Sprint startup animation/sound:

You will need a registry editor of personal choice (I use Total Commander). I will not go into detail regarding making animations nor sound formats. I will provide the location for your own maodification...

Go to-->HKLM-->Software-->HTC-->StartupAnimation.

Make changes here as you see fit.

Why would he make his rom install what you want?? Not everyone likes the same things...I think the less the better....Otherwise after install you gotta remove the crap you don't want... No2chem, you out did your self again...Excellent work on 45...DcD good look on the browser seeing the device now...All and all this is best out for the mogul.

pixelwix 02-11-2008 01:55 PM

i think there was a bit of misunderstanding, the link he pointed to was for a way to configure what you want to install after flashing. This is configured by putting things on the sd card.

And thank you so much no2chem. I've flashed almost every one of these builds, and things keep getting fixed before I even have time to realize it is broken XD

vossco32 02-11-2008 02:43 PM

I see somebody already posted this question.

Just wondering if you were going to post a basekit for 5045.
Thanks

That doesn't add anything that you would see. It just gives the ability to customize based on cabs on a storage card. It is a great idea and a very easy way for end users to customize their devices and decrease the time it takes to do so.

remlle 02-11-2008 03:22 PM

thanks blazing and others supporting my request.

92GTA 02-11-2008 03:42 PM

I still cannot perform a full backup using SPB with build 5045.

The files that error are:

\cemail.vol
\Documents and Settings\default.vol
\mxip_notify

No2chem, can you please fix this in your next release? When I posted about this a few days ago you seemed to know exactly what you had to do to resolve the issue.

Thanks!!!!!!!

dcd,

i had a loose encfilt.dll reference in oemapps, i'm not sure if you had it still, just search all your rgus for encfilt.dll

thanks, found it. before messing with mine anymore i tried 5045. it seems to have the same behavior im seeing lately - i can write and read from storage card, can insert and remove it no problem, and can modify the encryption setting. however, when i try to install an app to the card, it actually installs to the device. camera pictures do save to the card and work fine.

i have been investigating the other direction, of leaving deviceencryptionpolicy.dll enabled and setting a policy. there is a security policy to allow/disallow user to change encryption setting, but it defaults to allow, and OEM doesnt seem to be changing that.

i've also tried to use the old encfilt.dll instead of mencfilt.dll and point reg's back to it, but no luck.

i need to take a break, i am starting to see in encfilts and msdn and im probably overlooking something simple now that its starting to frustrate me... hopefully all of this means something to you... im stumped for the moment.

i am also wondering why we havent heard of these same things from the users of the kaiser rom we're porting from, or the users of other ports of that rom. maybe i can get my hands on a kaiser in the next couple days.

I am having issues with nueROM v2.0, build 5045. Wifi problems. When you turn on the wifi switch it turns on and you do not see any wifi networks. Im about three feet away from mine. My Hemes phone no problem. Soft reset nothing. Hard reset nothing. I then attemted to manually add the network nothing. Anyone else having issues with wifi?

Needed to run IOTA Cab to get provisioning back

1 Attachment(s)
Great ROM. Really need to follow the sequence to get it right i.e. Relocker, 3.16 ROM upgrade, then unlocker and finally No2chems rom. I still could not get provisioning working, so I downloaded IOTA.Cab and ran it (see attached file). I was then able to provision again by going to phone, options, Internet and clicking IOTA.

Slingplayer runs smoother with better AV sync, aGPS is not clearly working, but I plan on reading the troubleshooting tips on PPCGEEKS at http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=17032

Otherwise a pretty nice ROM. Strong work No2Chem. No2chem rocks !!!!

I have noticed some issues with installing older programs. Phonealarm doesn't install correctly, and all the older versions of HTX X-button (i.e. the one without taskmanager) fail to work properly. Minor issues for me as I try to keep uptodate on all installed apps.

dcd,
ive read on xda about the issue, i know that on other devices the defaultencryptionpolicy will kick in too, some roms have not dealt with it, others have... i think the dcs rom or other kaiser rom, maybe it was a hermes rom actually... im not sure. ive thought about editing deviceencryptionpolicy but havent had time.

if the kaiser isnt having these issues i suspect its some setting in oem thats keeping it from happening. ill keep on researching these issues.

btw, ive figured out how to make the extrom editable from the device. ill be releasing a cab/oem later today with the patched driver and tool.

zoomie 02-11-2008 05:58 PM

I ran into a storage card problem where I could see files with windows explorer but couldn't open them. Programs that used the storage card would just spin the wheel but never open. This started with build 5044 and continued when I first flashed 5045. To get the storage card working again, I opened MS word and saved a file to the storage card. After writing to the card, it opened and started working again. I do not know if this fix will work in build 5044, but does work in 5045.

dkincaid 02-11-2008 06:00 PM

I had my very first lock up today with the 5045. I've never had a lockup before with the other revisions. Anyone else seeing this?

I feel your pain man! With a new release coming out daily, I've pretty much got the process of reinstalling everything down to a science! :) I was able to do it in 15 minutes this morning...including a sync for my contacts! haha

mgould00 02-11-2008 06:11 PM

nice work! i am a new mogul owner and an old timer when it comes to hacking and tweaking stuff - but have never messed with any mobile devices...the instructions are right on and i cant wait to leave work so i can play with GPS!!!

the only wierd thing i see is the phone signal meter in the title bar is cut in half (so i cant see my bars) every once in a while it will be 100% visible...

any ideas?

thanks again!

So its kinda like a self extracting back up? but instead just launches all installs at once?

pixelwix 02-11-2008 07:03 PM

this is why you guys need to learn how to make roms

when a new baskit come you just ad your omes build flash and your done no need to install cabs or settings to the way you had it before. it really is not that hard to make your own rom.

Jeff Kirvin 02-11-2008 07:08 PM

What tools do you use to build the ROM from the basekit? DogGuy's kitchen? I'm pretty sure Helmi's Apache kitchen tools don't work...

I haven't actually tried that. Is there any step by step guides on how to do this with the basekit?

verkion 02-11-2008 07:17 PM

There's another thread that discusses exactly this...
Just use his no2chem's basekit rar and extract all the files over to dogguy's kitchen. Then you can customize to your heart's content and then run buildit.exe to get the finalized rom.

On a slightly seperate note...I REALLY like the idea of having the automated CAB installer. I personally like having the programs listed in the "remove programs" list...it's great that no2chem has a "base" rom, with very few customizations :-) I would suggest adding the "security settings" registry hack to the roms though ;-)

Thanks again no2chem for all your hard work!!!

i've been looking into adding uc functionality for a while now, you'll probably see that in the next release with extrom tools

and the reason i've been holding off on basekit is because of the extrom tool - so once thats done both new rom and basekit will go up.

stroths 02-11-2008 07:42 PM

I built a custom off the 5044 basekit and it was working fine until it locked up on me today. I tried resetting it several times with and without the SD in, but it would lock up right when it was loading the today screen. Ended up hard resetting to get it to boot all the way up.

Not sure if it was something I did in the custom ROM or something in the basekit.
