All phones have this(in some shape or form), not just Android. The difference being is that since Android is open source you can actually remove it.

Re: ATTENTION TO ALL :: : Carrier IQ threatens to sue TrevE/UPDATED APOLOGY LETTER V
This seems to be grabbing attention of major news networks...CarrierIQ declaring bankruptcy in 3-2-1 lol...Its a lot of bad publicity for the carriers and due to that they may end up dropping CarrierIQ (and then replacing it with something similar)
Their biggest mistake was threatening to sue him, in doing so they got the attention of the EFF which all major news networks follow. And even though its up to the major news networks whether or not no pick up a story, privacy violations are always a hot story. There are a few mistakes in the article though, for example, the carriers don't need CarrierIQ to see your text messages or phone calls, the carriers are REQUIRED to keep copies of all that for a few years. This is why my favorite line in that article from sprint is: Quote:
Also they have a misconception of HTTPS, only thing SSL does is secure the connection between you and the other side. If you have spyware on your pc/phone HTTPS is not intended to secure against that in any way or form. |

All other articles and statements say that Windows Mobile and Windows Phone 7 phones do not have it. |
