This is a weird one, calls come through only when keyboard open...

So I tried making a call today and it was dead silence. The other person could hear me, I heard nothing. Did a reset, nothing. Speakerphone works, as does sound through a headset. So I'm scratching my head, when all of the sudden I just try to slide out the keyboard, and I have sound! Even if it's open just a tiny bit I get sound, but the second it snaps shut, no sound. What gives?

I am going to say it is probably a loose Ribbon cable. When you move the keyboard, it makes contact.

yea I agree with what @Tinkerbell said. I would take that in and have it looked at and replaced, or u can also use a headset as an alternative.

Thanks guys. So, if I take it in for repairs, will the Sprint store fix it if it's rooted, using a custom kernel and all that stuff? I assume it's an easy fix, but I don't want any problems.

if you plan to take to the store I suggest CWM backup and then odin to stock. Cause they can refuse to service it if they see its rooted.

Re: This is a weird one, calls come through only when keyboard open...

Thanks. Since I have 2 repair shots near me I took my chances and went in rooted and what not. They ordered me a replacement luckily. So now I have a few questions, unrelated to my original problem:

-Do I have to Odin to stock, factory reset, anything to my old phone?
-For my new one, after I root and install CMW, CMW will bring back by kernel and everything, right? I forget what gets included, and I don't really mess with roms much. Sub question to this, is there a good faq on installing CMW or Odin if I need to? The one I was using has all broken links and what not now. Thanks!

Re: This is a weird one, calls come through only when keyboard open...

Derp, just realized the new root includes clockworkmod. So ignore that part of the question.

I'd still like to know what to do with my old phone, and if CMW covers kernels. In addition, I guess it'd be good to know if there's any chance I'd have to update the new phone, or roll it back, if the OS is different.

I'm going to bump this one last time. Should I revert my phone to stock before I give it back to Sprint, and if so, is there a good Odin tutorial? Thanks!
