Getting Calendar to Sync all Appointments

Ok, I did a search and can't believe this hasnt come up yet...

Is there a work around to getting all the Online Google Calendar appoinments to sync with Android phones? There is a 2 year long thread about this on the google site without a good answer.

For example, my phone doesn't list appointments older than about a month old and doesn't show new appointments past 1 year in the future...

I use Touch Calendar Free. It has a setting for past search period up to 20 years. Additionally, you can scale the dates to read appointments. It syncs perfectly with Google Calendar.
